Latest Velocity BP Fuel Offers

I see at least as many people filling up with PULP as I do ULP these days.

There certainly do seem to be more people using it. I used to go to our local Coles Express quite regularly, as they were often the cheapest in the area for PULP (not any more, they're usually as bad as - or worse than - BP's prices) but it gave me the irrits that less than half the pumps had PULP, especially when the place was busy. You did NOT make yourself popular when the two cars ahead of you at the pumps pulled away and you had to stop at the first pump (which was always the one that had PULP), thereby blocking access to the one in front. At least most other retailers have all fuel types at most (if not all) pumps.

Don't bother. I occasionally pick up one of the free papers left on the tables of the golf club and I can assure you they're nothing these days like they were back in the early 00s. Back then they were 80/20% split news/articles:ads. Now it's more like 20/80% split instead. Even the articles are hard to distinguish whether they're actually genuine articles or ads in disguise.

perhaps the mars bar will the better treat then, haven't had one of those for a year or two either :p

Yep experienced that too. That's down to the cough petrol stations though, not your fault. It's still the case at my regular haunts though that ULP nozzles outnumber the PULP ones by about 4 to 1. You have to get familiar with what queue you need to get in to arrive at a bowser with the right fuel. Curiously, it's easier if you need 98 RON. There are far more 98 RON handles than there are PULP. I think because all the marketing and promotion is aimed at getting people to buy 98 RON because that's where the biggest profit margin is. I suspect 98 RON is just PULP with some octane booster thrown in and mixed around.

I find at most stations the ULP+98 RON pump handles go together 90% of the time. There are virtually equal numbers of each. At one independent station I sometimes use, they don't sell PULP at all, only two non-diesel choices. For this reason, I suspect PULP isn't available from the Singapore refineries for import. It might be an exclusively Australian-made BP Kwinana product for the Australian market only. I suspect it will eventually be dropped altogether forcing everyone to buy 98 RON instead which the stations will love because it will boost their profits.

I have a car that needs minimum 97RON fuel to run without pinging the Mahle pistons. Back when BP Kwinana were making PULP + LRP at 96 RON mix for WA, NT + QLD markets, I could use that and get away with it. The 96RON was *just* good enough to not ping if you drove sensibly and didn't labour the gears. You could drive around the limitation being a proper manual car (one with three pedals). Once they dropped that special hot state mix and standardised on 95RON throughout Australia though it was game over for me and I had to buy the new 98RON (or BP100 avgas) instead.

A good tip for making life a bit easier at the pumps is buy native LHD cars that are factory converted to RHD for the Australia market. That way you get the fuel filler flap on the driver's side which is opposite to the vast majority of Japanese + Korean cars sold in this market. It means you queue up on the left side of the bowsers while everyone else is queuing on the right. You can usually just sail right on in... except for that one cough who insists on stretching the hose all the way over his roof to make it reach his filler.

Do yourself a favour and get an icecream Snickers instead, coz y'know... Snickers really satisfies.

So, am I missing the 200 bonus points as per promo?

**Sidenote - good how BP can post points within 24 hours to my Virgin account, but flying on Virgin Australia takes up to a week to post into my account. Virgin really need to fix this. They are cough (re: s**thouse ) in this area  :(

I received a similar offer - the Ts & Cs at the bottom of the offer email state: "Members should allow 2 weeks after 2 January 2018 for the bonus Points to be allocated", so you should get them by mid-January. I seem to recall from previous offers that the bonus points aren't usually credited until some time after the offer end date.

The T&Cs normally specify a timeframe (6 weeks,2 months). The bonus usually posts in the timeframe they quote.

My Husband and I fill up at BP two to three times a week. Is it fair to say we will never see a promo like this in our inbox?
Are they just targeting people who never go there?

Mr J and I both received offers this time - he fills up at BP about once a fortnight, I go to BP about once or twice a year (and that's only when there's a bonus point offer).

I fill up at BP about once a week.

I fill up Mrs QF WP's car weekly and my own about monthly at present. Seems tha they have almost back-to-back promos, so not sure why you aren't getting them wendlle - I've been on offers almost back-to-back since July last year.

I fill up 2-3 times per week and regularly get offers. I also received the 4ppd/ppl offer.

Worth logging into Velocity and checking all communication settings.

Got this one the other day, used it.

So far, as oz_Mark has stated, the points do turn up, but they do take a while

Got the January offer, and used it, but didn't receive the latest offer.

It's not a consistent/given, but you should have a good chance of receiving some.
