As I sit here at LAX in the rather excellent TBIT *Alliance lounge, on the outdoor terrace on a balmy California winters evening, having enjoyed a shower after a very long day in LA, I can't help but thinking how far VA have come in the last few years. I've been flying with them across the Pacific since day 1 and going from no lounge, to the micro 'loft' in the God awful scrum of T3, to what we have today (yes, piece meal and not suited to everyone's itineraries) is pretty impressive. I'm a happy VA flyer!
On another note, NZ have finally moved their departures from T2 to TBIT so the lounge is a lot busier than the last time I was here. It was bound to happen as they actually operate the lounge, but still worth knowing. Whilst there are a lot more people here than last time I came through in May, the lounge still doesn't feel crowded and I didn't have to wait for a shower.
On a final interesting note (for me anyway) NZ also have 3 - yes three!!! - flights leaving to AKL tonight... It boggles me how such a small airline, from such a small country can manage this. And yes I know they have no competition on the route but still....!!!
Happy NY everyone.
