LAX now has airside walkways between all terminals

Anything that means that I don't have to go through security again is a good thing !

Years ago, I transited through LAX. I had to pick up check-in. The UA employee helpfully told me to to put them on the belt around the corner for domestic transfers. No retagging neccessary. I was so jet lagged that I didn't realise that I was now landside and had to go through security again !

That's not going away. I>D transfers will still require going through security again.

Additionally, the LAX people mover is landside, so can't be used for airside transfers (unless you want to re-do security).

Well that hasn’t happened. Latest seems to be Jan 2026 for the people mover…!
Yes. Reportedly they have started testing with a couple of units.

The new transit centre metro station is due to open earlier and compete the K line.

The LAX/Metro Transit Center Station is meant to open within the next 1-2 months. They've been running test trains through from Aviation/Century since Dec.
The People Mover is due to open "early" 2026.
There will be 3 stations for the existing terminals (West [T3, 4, TBIT]. Central [1, 2, 5, 6] and East [7, 8]) with a future station to be built once T9 (to be build on land including the current "Eagles Nest") is ready and 3 stations for transfers to ground transport.
