Leisurely trip...

Wandered up to admiral's club (first) for coffee and granola. The usual food offerings put out (cold cuts, granola, yoghurts, egg, bacon, sausages, bagels, pastries).

Spent a few minutes catching up on the happenings of the world , then ambled over, under the runways, to the gate for:

JFK-CLT-AVL, booked with Expedia for not very much in cheapest US bucket. Collects 0.25/mile

JFK-AVL I had been offered paid upgrade to first for $88, which I decided was worth it. Be aware (for those who do it), paid upgrades to first on US do NOT earn First rates, but earn as 1/mile. So as a WP for 540 miles I got 1080 QF points plus 20SC.

No delays. No dramas. Food offerings were snack packets. And, even allowing that I am in LOTFAP, and I hesitate to grace it with the name, but teh WORST coffee I have ever had.

Arrived into CLT on time. Grey, low cloud, a bit bumpy coming down, but not too bad. My first visit to this US Airways hub.

Very pleasant (now) Admiral's Club. For those planning to use it as a staging post, note the AC does NOT have showers.

CLT-AVL.

On a CRj701. In the first economy row (4D), so huge leg room. Had to valet check the roll-on hand luggage.

There was a 20 minute delay hile some "maintenance" had to be done.

The flight was short, not surprising given it's only 90 miles, and we only got up to 10,000ft

Other than being about 30 minutes late, again the flight was uneventful.

AVL is a small airport. Valet luggage arrived quickly, as did checked. Shared a taxi to Ashville with co-delegates to the conference I was heading to. Unfortunately I had to wait 3 hours for a room to be ready.
