Has anyone had luck with Virgin Australia providing leniency with not making the required status credits to either upgrade status or keep status level?

In March this year as Gold, I had 1025 SC but 7/8 sectors and when I got my 8/8 sectors my previous SC had dropped off 2 days prior leaving me stranded on 995. I never made any contract to Virgin at the time as I was fine with Gold and did not see Platinum as giving a ton of extras.

Fast forward to where I am at the moment, my tier review date is this week and I have 390/400 SC to retain Gold. I have a VA flight booked 4 days after my status review period giving me +400 SC.

I spoke to live chat who offered me to redeem 50k VA points to retain Gold for the next year, which seemed pretty expensive given how close I was to naturally retain Gold.

Anyways, wondering if anyone has had luck with VA extending review period providing status as a goodwill measure?

Just feels like a bit hard done by when I had >1000 SC 5 months ago and I'm facing a drop to Silver right now.

Welcome. March was the time to raise this, not September! Back then as you were so close I suspect thy'd have done it as a goodwill gesture if raised then.

Your Velocity account website has a clear wheel showing how many segments and SC you need. So saying you were aware how many SC you had, but also saying you were UNAWARE you were a segment short makes no sense?

Thanks and yes, in hindsight I should have raised it given how close I was.

Oh I knew I was 1 segment short, However I wasn't really valuing any of the Platinum benefits enough to try and reach for it (dumb I know!).
Just frustrating that I was 1 sector short and then when I got the sector my SC dropped below 1000 2 days prior. I also have realized that if I had family pooling enabled on that date I would have made it past 1000 again, but I wasn't aware of that at the time.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone had any luck and how having Virgin provide status as a gesture of goodwill.

Status is so easy to obtain with virgin. If one segment short take a simple choice fare somewhere if it is that important. They have been known to gift renewal at level / up to next level if really close in the past. I personally wish they stuck to their guns and made people reach the required (easy to obtain) level rather than just providing participation awards for failing to meet the standard required.

Quite funny - on my flight this morning it seemed well over half were boarding in the priority lane during the priority boarding period. There were a few that were redirected to general boarding queues.
Of course they sell priority boarding as well by way of economy x. Which blows it out a bit. Still, its impossibly easy to get status on virgin. It really is just a game and ensuring you buy the right ticket at the right time.
