Hey Qantas

Where has the music gone. Not sure about international but domestic 737 on Sat and A330 on Sun no CD library or Qantas playlist's. Inflight service manager told me the system had been changed. She was lovely and mentioned she had had a lot of complaints and was going to bring this up at some kind of product meeting she was attending this week. Anyway has anyone else experienced this. I do get that with smart phones most people bring their own music but Ive always enjoyed the options Qantas presented.

Would come down to costs, and considering all 737s will have free WiFi with free sign up promotions with apple music and whatever else streaming is a better option.

True, but don’t they discourage headphones on landing/take offs?

Just finished a long weekend in NZ. Looking forward to watching a movie each way. Started browsing before take-off but selection was woeful! Had dinner. Back to the IFE (sic) to search for some TV options. Pathetic!! Didn't even have a Sports category. Second Shiraz. Ok - what Box sets??? Nothing good. Tried to watch one but lost interest by episode 2.
Fine - there's always music to soothe the savage Moody .... but .... WTF! No music and in its place are some putrid podcasts!!!

On the return flight it was a case of SSDD. I played some poxy games (even those were pitiful) and then got a pen out and did the Sudoku in the magazine.

My advice to Qantas - just shut the whole IFE down if it is going to continue in that vein. A singing nun with a guitar would be more entertaining,

Haven't bothered with using IFE on the 737s for a while now, but always listen to the CD collections on the A330. If these have been removed I'll be ruddy annoyed.

Great post - and agree.

Nothing but podcasts on the tadio channels - cant think of anything worse. They could have kept some of the radio channels with music.

Very dissapointed.....

They still do? Just under the radio section not podcast section. (I’m guessing you’re talking about the ‘qantas selection’, ‘aria charts’ etc ones?)

‘Radio’ is still on the menu, but it had two empty/non-selectable sections in it. So it seems it’s podcasts or nothing.

I used it on my flight a couple weeks ago, may have been a once off? Or maybe it was because it was an international flight

Only speaking for myself (and perhaps a few others), but the radio channels have been the best thing about flying QF domestically in recent times. It's been some years since I've bothered with any of the meagre unattractive food & beverage offerings, so the only value-add for me was the music. Always looked forward to the Jazz (James Morrison) or Classical (Guy Noble) channels in particular, especially on early-morning flights when one is trying to catch a few more zzz's and can't keep the eyes open. I could (and sometimes do) listen to whatever I have on my phone, but with the radio channels, at least you get the in-flight announcements - even if we can recite most of them by heart - and can save some battery life on your own device. On longer flights, browsing the CD collections and putting together a playlist was a nice way to sample new music. As we all know only too well, QF and most other airlines have slowly degraded their product over recent years in a race to the bottom. The well-curated radio channels were in some ways the last hold-out ... the last "touch of class" with QF. (I guess a hard-copy in-flight magazine is next for the chop?) Don't fly much with other carriers, but recent trips on CX and JQ (in so-called "biz") confirmed how superior the QF offering is (or was). Sincerely hope QF admit it was all a horrible mistake ... a temporary glitch only. I wrote to QF customer service about this, but ... not holding my breath. Is it a plot by the online music sellers to make us buy more music?

Agree 100%

Everyone should register disappointment onboard and to customer care. It’s just cheap.

I agree with all sentiments here. On trans Tasman music has gone but still on Melbourne- Perth- Sydney run. Once you have watched all movies, box sets, comedy etc all that's left is the music. The best thing to do is complain to Qantas customer services, otherwise nothing will happen and complaining to flight attedants does not guarantee the message will get through.

Was not on my SYD-PER flight this weekend. Might be on some planes still. But my very good CSM basically confirmed it was to save costs for some new improved entertainment, which she said was simply some Apple tie in. No idea if this is available now, or if it is future, or how you access apple stuff in J on the A330s?

Anyway, she indicated she was disappointed and would acknowledge my unhappiness. But she outright urged me to use whatever channels I could to complain (customer care, Twitter, the P1 team etc) as “your views are more powerful than mine”.

Can confirm than on dreamliners used on domestic runs the audio is also gone. Not the best move!
