Let's talk about Ryokans

Can you please review the oldest ryokan in Japan? I suspect you may have in your other TR.

And which one would that be?

Edit, I don't recall staying in a very old ryokan let alone the oldest....

Now that we've seen the more high end ryokans, how about something cheap (but cheerful)?

Yamanoha, Unatsukionsen, Toyama

Not the lowest price per se, but definitely the best value imho.

This is a very large ryokan.


Spectacular views in the lobby lounge.


My room had the same view


12 tatami size, Japanese room.


And one of the best public baths I've been.


Dinner and breakfast were both buffets.




To offer this price, obviously they had to cut cost somewhere. Food as already mentioned.
Service was pretty much like a city hotel as well.
For that price, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
And the view +onsen was certainly worth it, and some.
