LHR shutdown due to substation fire Friday 21 March

One has to wonder if their services at CDG helped given agreements with the airport and ground staff in place.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s it, it you look at the diversions airlines have mostly gone to ports they operate out of.

It seems the trans Atlantic flights have been the worst affected.

I was supposed to fly BA from LHR to MAN this afternoon but had to switch to Avanti instead. Not a bad alternative, but disappointed about losing those 20 status credits.
Flying out of MAN to DXB tomorrow—hoping there won’t be any disruptions. Fingers crossed!

I'm on SQ222 SYD-SIN and after a nap woke up to the message that my connecting flight, SQ306, to LHR has been cancelled. We were due to arrive at 7:25am Saturday. Just got to wait and see what SQ does with us.

I wonder how for say tonight's QF2 passengers will all know where to assemble to board buses that would then go by ferry across the English Channel?
Don't forget LGW and BA. (Assuming BA has some aircraft at LGW)

Potentially even QF own 787 shuttling between LGW and CDG?. Note QF34 is there at CDG

SQ have rebooked me in to Gatwick an hour earlier. Don't think I'll be in F though as they usually use A350s on this route and there are no F seats 😭

Disappointed but can't blame SQ for anything. Just happy my holiday hasn't been disrupted really.

That's a great outcome all things considered
Yeah, I was surprised how quickly they organised it. I'd already pretty much assumed I was gonna be stuck in Singapore for at least 12 hours.

I am in TPR at the moment and it has been fairly busy. SQ staff have been going round updating everyone though.

Contrast that with BA 😉

Forget that. There was miscommunication. I'm stuck in Singapore but have been given a hotel room and taxi paid for.
Welcome to Singapura - lots to do here (bar the rain).

Makes sense as QF34 is there
Sure - that works for QF10/QF34 - but wouldn’t QF2 need a completely different relief crew being an A380?

I was due to fly out of LHR Friday evening on an EK-operated QF ticket. Woke up, saw the cancellation and decided to get out of London, so immediately booked a seat on the Eurostar to Paris. On the way to St Pancras, work travel agent managed to change my flight to QF34 leaving 1020 Saturday, with a fare refund of nearly $1k! Immediately put through an upgrade request for W > J and it cleared 10 mins later.

All up, the fare difference more than covers the cost of the Eurostar and a night in Paris, and I should be home only ~18 hours later than planned. Counting my lucky stars today...

Cabin crew wise there is no longer any type requirement as such, they usually mix and match types across their roster lines, pilots are of course different.

This is on BBC about 30 minutes ago. Some flights out Friday night
