Have pretty much given up on the status game as it doesn't mean all that much to us. Quite happy to still get points with Qantas when it happens, as we use for domestic flights or for the kids, but not a priority. Status credits have zero interest for me now.

Getting LTG was nice and I will be happy when Mr FM gets it next year, as so many of the flights out of Canberra are all Y, so that is the only way to have lounge access.

We are going to fly SQ or EK now (yes the TPR is really good :) ), but that would have happened whether I attained LTG or not. We joined Velocity and ended up with a whole swag of points (from travelling SQ), that we didn't know how to use, so I have transferred them to Dr FM :)

I can officially respond at the of the week, that's when I will tick off LTG. Outside of that I will have about 3200 SC by the end of the month so will go to the 3600 mark then sees what happens. I will most likely retain P1 by the end of Oct so that will see me through to 31 Jul 19.

I will most likely start to fly VA domestically and possibly SQ but QF will still be in the mix.

I guess it's pretty logical that once you have LTG then points become the main game.

Until/unless QF adds further lifetime benefits to aim for.
nope not for me Gold gives me everything I need. The only thing I got out of Platinum was the Platinum line and as I hate phones that only benefitted me a few times :)

I prefer not to call, but sometimes there's no other choice e.g. when you want to put an upgrade request in but your international flights haven't ticketed. I reckon I probably saved an hour or two on the phone due to having WP status.

oh absolutely - generally when I called it was some major issue and they were very good about sorting it out.

I've been LTG for 4 years .... currently sitting on >20,000 SC. I've remained with QF as travelling in a family pack it's easy securing 4 x award seats with QF and other OW partners. We burn around 1.2M points a year so award seats is a key factor for us .... the WP benefit of requesting award seats is a bonus that keeps on giving.

When the kids leave the nest maybe, we'll wonder over to the SQ counter....

Yes at only 1000 or SCs no need for me to lose sleep pondering what to do when i never hit Lifetime Gold... :)

Maybe there is a drop off because most people hitting it are golden oldies and having reached their goal they stop travelling so much and put their zimmer frames away?? ;)

I'm sending my QF flights to Alaska at the moment, they credit 1:1 even on discount Y fares, and their redemption rates and lack of fuel surcharges suit me much better... Reach MVP Gold which, is only 50,000 miles (got status matched to MVP Gold 75K this year but just two Y return flights to the USA and a few internal flights should have me pretty close to MVP Gold for next year) and that gets you lounge access to Qantas lounges before Qantas flights domestically and internationally etc...

Maybe, and I get the impression from another poster that is what QF believes, but I wonder if QF is not in possession of all the information because FF's credit elsewhere exclusively, or partially once they reach LTG?

I'm not sure that is entirely correct. Airlines are not to know what you are doing or not doing. People's flying habits change. Jobs change. Allegiances change.

For what it's worth I was crediting to other programs well before I reached Lifetime Gold. I also purchased miles to travel on Star Alliance carriers. Qantas doesn't know this information nor do they have any way of finding out.

The situation with everyone is different. What works for you is unique to you and most likely you only. Similarly I'm happy doing what I'm doing and only I know what is worthwhile for my travel situation.

I'm LTG and am starting to rethink QFF. i usually easily make Plat (last year just over 2k status credits) but little chance of Platinum 1. Do alot of dom Y travel so the ability of platinums to easily get exit row was a big plus (loved row 14 on 738s) for me but now gone, so rethinking? AM high up in Shangri-la Golden Circle was looking at the golden circle - SQ tie up.

Businesses are supposed to know what you are doing these days - they spend large amounts of money on data analytics and CRM. It would be quite easy to run a survey of people who have LTG and whose flight patterns have changed and ask them why. Of course they may not feel the info is worth it.

That is my point. QF only has a limited amount of info. In my case I have gone from 5000 SC's per year to pretty much 0. So in Qantas land I have dropped off the radar. They have no idea what has happened to me. Information in another thread suggested that QF Loyalty was under the impression that travel dropped off for LTG's - how would they know?

I recently (last year) achieved LTG, and was comped WP this year - but travel has dropped off significantly (unfortunately). I have 2 trips upcoming and advice appreciated as to best value for crediting. QF J BNE-SYD-CGK return, and QF/UL J BNE-MEL-CMB return. No other FF memberships, but I would have a UK address if that might be any help.

I don't mind crediting to QF, as I am getting close to a OW award, but not adverse to better crediting value elsewhere for a future redemption.

..... QF only has a limited amount of info....

Here's a question - if I am a QF FF but buy a ticket through Qantas and use my FF number from another program (such as LATAM), would QF know/care that I was crediting the flight to another?

I honestly don't even think I have ever even cared about LTG either before or after reaching it...If LTWP existed I might care more about that maybe but I fly so much domestically in paid J (9 flights in past week for example) that LTG really doesn't offer me much.
