My advice, as always, is to let it slide.....

I get the angst at the time, but big organisations have the ability to grind down all of us.

Move on :)

Hmmm ... if you sent it to [email protected] an auto reply has been always generated in my experiencing (which contains a reference number).
No I did on in the complaints web form on their website.

Though it's looking like my new job will only do EK flights (first world problems) so may be a moot point for a few years

Hmmm ... I used the complaints for just the once. After ... crickets ... I went back to using the email address. Besides the auto SR number generated is useful for the ACA.

Not sure if your travel will be down the back of the EK bus but premium cabins have great earning potential when credited to Alaska Miles which in turn can be redeemed on CX, EK & QF etc with low taxes. May be worth considering.

It will be in J, might be a good idea as Emirates not being part of one world is really annoying (not being able to enter a lounge on QF SG card unless you credit the flight to QF and then get no SCs) especially as I can’t get internal australian flights on a proper EK ticket due to our overegulated system. But I think Alaska is not OW so it still causes problems.

It will be very annoying missing out on all the QF SCs but their travel agent has a deal with EK so they claim they can’t just book the route on QF even though it’s the same planes, but it’s #firstworldproblems

Don't worry too much about EK or AS not being in an alliance. You don't have to fly on AS metal as you're simply using their ff program to credit EK flights to.

If work is paying for EK in J you'll get lounge access anyway based on your class of travel ie access to J Lounges so you don't need to rely on elite staus & the crediting of that number to use the lounge.

Therefore being an entry level member of AS matters not. What problems did you foresee with AS not being a OW member?

When you do start redeeming AS points for travel on CX, EK & QF, if on a J award or above you'll again get lounge access based on flying in the J cabin plus you'll save a bundle in taxes as EK can charge a lot in carrier fees etc.

May be worth investing in an Amex Plat charge card as you'll get access to Priority Pass lounges worldwide, Amex Centurion Lounges, VA Lounges in Australia, AA Admirals Clubs & Delta Sky Clubs.

I suppose I just haven’t been interested in the points game as I’d just use them for Addison’s attempts at upgrading, and was wanting SCs to maintain status, but with work J flights it’s less of a problem. I suppose I find OW more convenient and would make it easier to transition back to QF. Also if I have to spend days stuck in airline loungue I prefer F lounges.

I have thought about the Amex card, PP et al are useful backups, amend Im Accor gold so getting free plus would be nice. I’ll need to read up on the latest adjustments.
