Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Well, as a somewhat reluctant QF LTG I can assure you that you will be somewhat underwhelmed especially when it comes to seat selection and upgrade priorities.
On the bright side, access to the QP and having the card that says 'Lifetime' are a bonus.

That's the problem isn't it. To get to LTG you either have to sustain SG a very long time or more likely spend a fair bit of time as a WP (or above) and get used to the extra benefits. Then when you reach LTG QF leaves no further Lifetime benefits to aim for.

I'm a long way from LTS and I'm already starting to get used to the WP benefits for domestic travel (for international travel not so much yet).

Yes the LTG recognition is rather underwhelming and not just the welcome ketterveithet. . QF make no distinction between LTG and SG so on board as far as I can tell you are the same as SG. Nothing extra in your boarding pass to indicate lifetime and I assume nothing in the Pax list either. Several conversations I have had with business lounge entry staff tells me that they feel that LTG should get more recognition, even to the point of saying " if I'm on the door and you are in economy I would let you in"

LTG is underwhelming but it does achieve its primary purpose - you are guaranteed SG for life, regardless of amount you fly. In that regard, it delivers.

Given it's often hard to get a seat in the J lounges I would not be in favour of granting access to LTGs. Unless - to pick a purely random example - P1s were given access to the CLs :)

Gee, I'd be rapt to get LTG
it is good, but I guess it is a long haul to get it for most people, so it feels a bit of a let down when you achieve it. I am looking forward to September when I will lose WP - I don't think my 90 status credits will get me a comp :) :) , but I know I will remain Gold forever. Very useful for domestic :)

Mission accomplished after 14 years 5 months Life Time Gold (LTG) is mine! And hopefully a long life to Qantas, Qantas Frequent Flyer and myself :)

Which will be me one day as well.

That's quick. I've been a QFF member longer than that and still am a long way off LTS though admittedly my flying hasn't been much till the last couple of years.

Thanks mviy it feels good to have it locked. I had one year of 2100+ SCs all in Domestic Y so that year was crazy but helped a lot to LTG.

My work travel can vary a lot so good to have this for 'life' - I better look both ways before crossing the road can't let QF get off too easy.

Lifetime One World Lounge access sounds good. Now QF stay in the black and with OW :)

congrats coyote25...huge effort and welcome to the club!!!

Have to admit when I got LTS and was flying at lot I thought LTG would come very quickly but a few years later after two soft landings from WP I actually went back to silver. Right then LTG looked like a very far away dream.

Swings and roundabouts I guess. Having fallen to PS I can appreciate having this safety net especially for international holiday travel. I might not need this for a few years but I will fall from WP again for sure in a few years.

Plus I'm now free to check out VA, if I could just get a status match. Just can't find a VA email address to contact them a request a status match or status challenge :(

Yep signed up a few months ago to Flybuys no email about VA Explore Gold yet but here's hoping ðŸ

I can't recall for sure, but you might need to have FBs linked with a VA account? Doesn't necessarily mean you need to do anything between the two if they're linked (I get SCs for the odd Coles shop, and that's it), it might just help with them honing in on those to make offers to. Fingers crossed for you!

Checking this thread, I was reminded of a recent conversation with a (non-AFF) friend, who had reached LTG but has not been travelling on QF of late - mainly because he bought himself a small plane. :)

He told me that, just before leaving Oz on a current international trip, he was in a panic and had to book some QF flights to meet the "four eligible segments" criterion for retaining his status. I suggested that was not required, with Lifetime status but he insisted that it was, according to the website.

Looking at the wording of the note on coyote25's post #820 above, I see what may have led to his interpretation.
Will have a further search for a definitive statement to pass on to him, but at the moment, am posting while travelling (of course). :)

it would be good to hear the results of your search, but I really don't believe it is necessary. That is just the standard wording that they have for keeping/retaining normal status levels.
