Lifemiles help with award ticket and cancellation

I cancelled a booking yesterday which was for 2 connecting flights each for myself and my son done on the same booking reference. However each passenger was treated separately and as such 2 transactions were needed to cancel the booking .(so i was charged the cancellation fee twice. $50 x 2) This made the call almost an hour long while i went through the process of entering my credit card details via the automated system and talking to the operator. Their automated system rejected the card once so it took 3 attempts at entering my card details to cancel the entire booking for 2 pax. It was handed efficiently and my points reappeared a few hours later. However make sure you have an hour set aside for the task. The operator spoke good english. I used the +1 800 284 2622 number.

I just had exactly the same thing! Took 35 minutes on the phone to cancel 2 tickets (though all on one PNR). Rejected the PIN input the first 2 times. Accepted on the 3rd. Had to input credit card details for each ticket seperately. It rejected it 2 times on the first ticket and got it on the 3rd and final go. Same information entered exactly on each attempt. It rejected the 1st time on the 2nd ticket and then got it on the 2nd time.

Any recent experiences of what happens when you need to cancel a ticket because airline has made a schedule change to your flight which you don't like (9 hours later so not trivial) Thanks

I have had both situations where I've cancelled and also had to amend bookings due to scheduled changes (both times by TG). LM charged me to cancel booking even though it was rescheduled to another time, but no charge when called them up to book alternate bookings to connect to flights that were changed by the scheduled change.

Well, I've had a great experience over the last week..not.

I originally booked SQ J MEL>SIN>BKK and BKK>MEL TG J back in Feb for travel in 2 weeks from now.

I rang LM to change the return TG flight to 2 days earlier which they did without issue. I received all the updated docs within 5 minutes.

Next morning I went to the TG site to re-select my seats for the changed flight and my SQ flights had disappeared.

Great! Back on the phone to LM and I got lots of "Oh, that shouldn't have happened" and "Someone will call you back" etc...

2 days later the SQ flights re-appeared on the PNR with MEL>SIN on "StandBy" and SIN>BKK "Confirmed"

6 days later after calling every day to get the MEL>SIN leg sorted out LM told me that SQ "cancelled the booking" because LM had not re-issued the e-ticket in time (because it took them 5 days to get around to doing it). I told LM a few days prior that this would happen (from experience I knew this) but of course they assured me it wouldn't....

So naturally there is no availability anymore as the award seats have been snapped up so SQ won't/can't confirm the MEL>SIN flight.

LM then rebooked me on a TG flight MEL>BKK the day before I wanted to travel and then rang me to tell me how lucky I was.. and if I wouldn't mind handing over US$300 (2 pax) for the privilege of being stuffed around for a week and changing my outbound date without asking me.

Today I look at the SQ app and both SQ flights are confirmed.

So currently I am "Confirmed" and e-ticketed on MEL>BKK TG J and BKK>MEL TG J as well as "Confirmed" but not ticketed on the SQ J flights MEL>SIN and SIN>BKK.

Only LM could make such a mess of a simple booking..

So checking our LM redemptions on TG our 10/12 flight NRT-BKK has this come up when you go to manage my bookings-
Warning [h=2]YOUR ATTENTION IS NEEDED[/h][h=3]Your itinerary has been affected by an unexpected event.[/h]
Please find new flight(s), free of charge.

The original booking appears underneath with supposedly confirmed seats.Checking the flight is still going but no seats left for purchase in J.There is another TG flight 2 hours later which has 3 J seats available but my worry is the overnight flight has an empty J cabin.

Has anyone seen this.have we been bumped?

I've just done a search on the TG website for 10 December NRT-BKK - all three flights have seats available in business class for purchase - the TG677 (1730), TG643 (1145) and TG641 (0945).

Are there any connecting flights after the BKK sector on your ticket?

No it is just a single flight.
The full itinerary is there and I can go to the seatmap where our seats are displayed but no others available hence my thought it is full.

PS when our TG LM award was cancelled previously it just disappeared from the TG website.Sydney office of TG were able to reinstate it then.

No problems.Called TG BNE office and all fixed.Back on original flights with same seats.

what was the problem? they had already moved you to the later flight? if this was a lifemiles redemption you should confirm the ticket numbers are still valid.

Told that on Saturdays this flight is usually oversold as many business types prefer the Saturday morning rather than Friday nights late flight.
All good and warning has disappeared from my bookings.
