Good limo service MEL?

Can anyone recommend one (that takes Cabcharge)? The one I've been using has really slipped with quality of service in recent years.

My main bugbear is that they stopped coming into the terminal to meet me, which I need. I often travel with about 50kgs of professional camera gear as well as my luggage, so as a girlie who usually travels alone with all this stuff, I would really appreciate being met by the driver.

SamR, I have someone who I can highly recommend. He will meet you wherever it suits you. He's been driving me for 15 years. I'll PM you his details.

Re: Good limo service MEL?

I have used a Mel driver for years now as well, I have passed his details to others on AFF who also use him. He has 2 cars (7 series and a Caprice) so very infrequent to get another driver in busy time except him or his brother.

His names Alam

Re: Good limo service MEL?

I would certainly endorse Alam as a good and reliable driver - I have only been using him for 3 years and only once had to call to ask where he was and his brother was walking down the terminal right at that point.

I actually prefer the caprice to the 7 series as it is a little less embarrassing than being at the office when the MD gets out of a cab and I get out of a 7 series...

Re: Good limo service MEL?

Thanks for your help, everyone. I'm going to have plenty of opportunity to use them both over the next two months.

Re: Good limo service MEL?

As a Canberra Silver Service driver, I have a regular customer who matches that description, in that she is female and travels with a shed load of camera gear. She's only a tiny thing, so she depends on charm to seduce people into helping her, and she gets around a lot, in cars and trucks and planes and helicopters and boats, to her various assignments.

The charm works a treat on me.

The money's fine, but I really live for the smiles.

People don't smoke in taxis anymore, so ashtrays in the back seat of the cab are just wasted space. I get customers climb in and exclaim happily over the space, the leather seats, the Mozart...

And then I reach back, flip open the ashtray, and enjoy the delight as they discover I've filled it full of Minties!

The taxi ride after a busy round of meetings, before getting to the airport and hassling with checkin and security, is often the only island of peace some people get in a day. I try to make it as pleasant as possible.

Sounds like these Melbourne drivers have discovered the secret as well. Happy passenger = happy driver.

Re: Good limo service MEL?

Hey guys,

So reviving an old thread but looking for a recommendation.

I am sick of having terrible cab drivers to/from Melbourne airport. Unfortunately (or fortunately cause I love it!) I live in Brunswick West. This means when I get in a cab at the airport they seem to try and do their best to get a 20min turn around so they can skip the taxi queue on their return to the airport, the ridiculous thing is that this is an impossibility. It is usually about 20mins one way.

So I need someone who takes cabcharge (and credit card through cabcharge system would be ideal) for the run to and from Melbourne airport.

Also how do these guys operate? On a flat rate?

Thanks for the help.

I'll still recommend my Driver Nick, great service and it's a flat rate too. Pm me if you want his number.

I presume there is a typo of "u" for "I"?
For CBD
cab - about $40-50
limo - about $70-80
I will go with the limo on trips with luggage (all my previous cab rides in Melbourne have been awful - smelly, dirty and in summer you have to beg them to turn the air conditioner on!)
