Linking Separate (Consecutive) Itineraries/Tickets

@madrooster , is this linking using the same process as TCP or does it relate to the addition of Ghost/Information segments.

By calling I used to be able to do the latter with Qantas when connecting to/from separate AA bookings.

A couple of years ago this type of request was rejected ... "we are not allowed to do that anymore", so I have not tried since.

Adding ghost segments does absolutely nothing for the purposes of through-checking these days. Neither does doing a TCP. It has to be a confirmed and ticketed segment in the same PNR for through-check to work these days.

I genetally don't check luggage so through check is not an issue.

I was more interested in parties seeing ongoing segments when looking at bookings.

Ghost segments essentially don't do anything useful these days for airport purposes, be it through-check or showing what you were connecting to.

So presumably they no longer show to check in staff with a dumbed down interface?

Ghost segments have never done anything actually useful in terms of telling check in staff anything. They don't appear on the main screen that they see when they search for a passenger.

Only when you go digging do you see it and it does not show up in any on-carriage reports.

An information segment did earn me bonus points once ... :)

QF624 BNE - MEL arriving 18:25
QF35 MEL-SIN-LHR departing 11:45

Hopeful but not expectant

You won't be able to through-check. MEL has an inhibitor stopping through-checking when the next flight is beyond 6am the next day.

@madrooster, through-checking possible for these itineraries?
1. QF732, QF127 Adl-Syd-Hkg arriving 1800 PNR1 revenue ticket,
6+ hours later CX271 Hkg-Ams departing 0015 PNR2 award ticket

2. QF738 Adl-Syd arriving 1135 PNR2 award ticket
8+ hours later JL772 Syd-Nrt departing 0815 PNR2 award ticket

Yes, if you can get QF to agree to doing so. Quite hit and miss with QF from various reports here.

That is an overnight in SYD. No carrier is able to through-check to JL in SYD as they leave too early in the morning for any connecting traffic.

I have this issue but on Cathay (these are booked on QF points - sorry not up with the correct lingo).
PNR1 CX104 MEL > HKG Dep 2.20pm Arr 9.50pm
nearly 3 hours later PNR2 CX 293 HKG > FCO Dep 12.40am Arr 7.25am

PNR3 CX 252 LHR > HGK Dep 12.20pm Arr 7.05am
3+ hours later PNR4 CX 163 HGK > MEL Dep 10.40am Arr 10.55pm

Please tell me they will book my luggage all the way through to Rome and back into Melbourne on the way back?!

Cathay will through check luggage on their own flights.
