I have a Qantas Classic PE Syd-Lax booked leaving next month.

I also now have 6 internal AA flights (LAX - DFW - MCO) directly after arriving at lax. (I know the proceedure at LAX for onward flights)

MIA - DCA
EWR - ORD - EWR
JFK - LAX - then pickup my return PE Classic to Sydney.

Is there anyway I can link these flights, so that I can take my 2 bags (Qantas limit) on the AA fights, or do I have to be at the mercy of the check-in person, so that I don't at least have to pay for bag?

(OK - will try to do minimal shopping until last leg. Hubby travelling with me, so shopping will be curtailed anyway, so may get away with only taking 1 bag but will need the 2 bags for last legs.:(

You can't link them as they're on separate PNR's, sometimes coming off of an international flight will work in ones favour when it comes to baggage charges but there's never any guarantee in the US so your assumption that you'll be at the mercy of the check-in person is absolutely correct.

We are both lowly Bronze. Only fly for holidays at best twice a year (though last year we had 4 international flights)
Intend buying the AA Admirals Club card for 30 days while in the USA to at least try out the lounges.

The reason for the question, was on another post, another member had something similar, (points to lax - then AA to JFK) and was told by a member to call Qantas to get the flights linked, so thought I would put my multiple flights with AA here, to get answers from such an experienced audience.

I intend to have copy of Qantas ticket with me, to prove inbound status, but again belive I am at the mercy of check-in operator.

My philosphy in life.... it costs nothing to ask....

Do you have any Oneworld status?
Extra baggage is for high status is not a OneWorld benefit.
Some OW airlines do offer additional baggage allowance due to high status with a partner airline, but that is the airlines choice (not OW)

And aa was one of the airlines that does, so is relevant here

We are talking AA here, so Oneworld Status Pax do indeed get baggage charges waived on AA.

Linking only provides info segments to QF, so it does let them know where you are, but provides no additional extras apart from that.

Even if your AA flights are booked separately from the QF ones, QF can still tag your bags through to MCO - just take a copy of your AA itinerary with you so the checkin agent can add the flights into your checkin record so they can print out the bag tags to MCO. Note that you will still need to claim your bag off the carousel at LAX then clear customs and immigration.

You may get your AA boarding passes as well but if not get them from AA at LAX when you do the bag drop after clearing customs.

As for the other AA sectors, with no OW status all you could do is take your international QF itinerary with you to AA checkin & see if they'll waive the baggage fee but I wouldn't be too optimistic about that working as it's a long shot.

Have you thought about doing your trip with hand luggage only up until your final stop or NYC at least if visiting the factory shopping outlets in New Jersey? That way you'd only have to pay luggage fees for the one sector JFK/LAX.

Thanks Oz, near choked on my Tim Tam at the thought of 5 weeks away with only carry on. (from Carribean to Chicago, I am going to have a hard enough time, with just one bag each.)

Perhaps I should mention, that my hubby says I have an Olympic Gold medal in Full Body Contact Shopping LOL, and my last trip to New York with my daughter, saw us coming home with 45 kilos of luggage EACH.

Just thought I would put the question out-there, hoping someone would be up on ticketing possabilities.
