no targeted email for me, :(. However i have finally worked out how to get qf points for my electricity and gas (NSW). they don't accept amex discovery qantas card so i can now put a regular deposit into qantas cash and pay the bills that way.

Why, loading it and the withdrawing it won't cost a cent?

I currently can't afford to have that money tied up. It's not a good idea for me. I'd suggest most here could afford it, but I can't.

That being said. I didn't receive the offer so it's irrelevant.

I still dont understand, given money would be tied up for the time it takes to get loaded and then withdrawn instantly via ATM for free? 5000 points for two-three days use would almost be worth a cash advance.

As I said, I just don't have it. But this isn't the place to go in depth about my finances.

I'm just not interested in providing QFF with another link into my finances and spending patterns.

Speaking of which I just got a BankWest offer via QF for 10 000 points for opening a BW account and depositing $2K a month for three months.

Another way they can keep track of your money no doubt.

Someone might want to start a thread on this one.

We're thrilled to introduce the new Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account. It's an Australian first that earns you Qantas Points* on your everyday banking. It's simple, earn Qantas Points on eligible everyday purchases, as well as on money that's just sitting in your account.

You could earn:
- Qantas Points* on your account balance 365 days a year
- 5 Qantas Points* for every eligible purchase
- 5 Qantas Points* every time you withdraw cash from an overseas ATM

Plus, open a new account before 18 July 2014 and you will receive 10,000 bonus Qantas Points^ when you deposit at least $2,000 per month for the first 3 months, e.g. salary (available for new Bankwest Transaction Account holders only). You'll also double your chances of winning the ultimate trip for you and 3 friends (see below for details).

Well dont then but frankly unsure how loading 1K and then taking it out again gives them any insight into your spending patterns. Seems a bit of a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face in fact.

So am I the only one who received this offer? I wasn't expecting an offer to be so targeted, almost personalised!

I've seen people in the credit card forums say they don't want to set up direct debits on their credit cards so that their credit card issuer (like Amex) doesn't have a direct path to their bank account.

Hows that related to loading QF cash which must be done from a transaction account and the only way to why the cash out is to do a free ATM withdrawal? I cannot see any data of use in those two transactions to Qantas or their Financial Services Provider.

I am going to get my tin foil hat!

I have received the following offer last week for 2 of my accounts:

Activate Qantas Cash and earn 500 bonus points - Load $250 to earn the points

Personally I think that's paranoid (Amex are not stupid, given they don't offer transaction accounts it's a pretty good bet you have one somewhere else) but DD is hardly the only way to pay a bill and not really relevant to Qantas cash anyway.
The other reason for not wanting a DD is you no longer control the payment but personally I think not paying your CC card is really stupid given the interest rates, and DD saves you from yourself. If you aren't going to pay something a credit card is a bad place to start.

For clarification purposes, to be eligible for the bonus 5,000 Qantas Points, you have to load the equivalent of AUD1000 in foreign exchange on to your Qantas Cash card.

However I appreciate the confusion in this instance - the email is correct, and the website has been amended to match the email as off 14 May 2014 (the word "or" has been removed).

I can personally guarantee that anyone who received the email, registered and loaded as per the website instructions prior to 14 May will receive the bonus 5,000 points within the usual 6-8 weeks. :)

5,000 points just posted today! :) That was quick!

Its a pain in the bum to do this "special load" as my bank sends me a need to do a special sms code each time I make this bpay for this thing.
Not worth the effort.
And you can do the trick of mass bpaying this "special" one either, its a one:one, so each load, you have to do a different bpay pay...
I don't like it.
So am leaving this one alone.
