Locking Luggage

I always check to see that my COLORED cable tie is still in place.

As it is obvious it takes no time.

This applies whether at the airport, on a train, getting my bag back from a hotel check etc etc..

As others have said...it is not about "thief-proofing" your bag. It is about minimising risk in a time and cost effective manner.

A dedicated thief may always find a way. But many acts of thievery are opportunistic.

LASTLY: Another reason to lock and/ or cable tie your zip is that the zip can through jostling work open spilling the contents.

If a thief wants either my whole checked bag or a pair of undies fine he/she can have them/it.
However if someone wanted my carry on I would be very, very unhappy.

It's not about being untouchable - it's about being a harder target than the guy next door.

Very much like the joke about the 2 guys who are confronted by a lion in the wilds of africa and one puts on his running shoes, so he can outrun the other guy.
