Locking the J toilet door

I have never said passenger should have "carte blanche" access in any sense - the CC have complete control of the cabin. Straw man arguments do not progress the debate.

I think you're being really disingenuous here. Your first post on the topic:

Loos should be available to everyone on the airplane irrespective of ticket price.

I've used the F loos on the QF A380 flying J. It's not special. A loo is a loo and the access is/should be the same as breathing air.

I'm not sure if you normally ask for permission to breathe but otherwise I think you started with a very clear argument that any loo is fair game, and have gradually restricted your argument as nobody else backed you. More or less you're now saying if you ask then it's fine, which is fair enough, but certainly not how you started. But then again you also made recent comments like:

The only difference between you and me is that I go further and say WC should be open to all passengers irrespective of class.

Would it really kill you to just use the loos in your own cabin? Why are you so special?

To be fair, I read that more in terms of “everyone is entitled to the use of a toilet” and that just because a toilet is earmarked for a particular cabin doesn’t mean that anyone not seated in that cabin has zero rights to use it. I think we’ve established that the CC can grant access at their discretion. Again, just my interpretation of that initial comment.

Just curious, but do you agree on QF and VA domestic routes talking about which loo for which pax is part of routine announcements?
 

This flyertalk thread suggests at least curtains are supposed to be there, and if missing it’s due to delivery of incorrect lockers which are being fixed (and then curtain installed).

Also at least one report of FA direction that the front loo is for club only.

 
Sorry then you haven't been listening on most of your domestic flights in Australia. VA always mention Y pax down the back and QF only occasionally miss doing that.

I have been in Y on occasions on the 737 and the line of pax waiting for the J loo was past my seat in Row 4. On the other hand I witnessed a woman in Y with a toddler ask if she could use the J loo as she needed to change the child. Told firmly do that down the back.
There's no change table in the J loo anyway, so even when flying J I've had to go back to Y to do nappy changes (and its a tight squeeze back there!).
 
Just like I don’t get to walk up to a shop and feel entitled to use their toilet or carpark spot or other facilities without being their customer (a shop owner is entitled to say no to anyone, but much less likely to do so to a paying customer)

When I pay for a premium service, I expect what is reserved for my use is not just opened up to anyone, since the ratio of premium pax and FA and pilots to toilet reserved for them is part of the deal. Just because the toilet is empty doesn’t mean we let anyone else use their toilet, some might not mind, but others want to have that ratio policed so they they don’t have to wait for toilets to be empty.

Similarly i dont expect the FA to offer leftover premium meals to Y class pax, even though they are likely to be trashed at the end of the flight

How the FA and CSM in the premium end police this is up to the individuals involved, some shut the curtain to the premium area, others by locking the toilet.

Surely I would notice the FA locking the toilet door sooner or later on a flight, particularly on a single aisle domestic flight (since there is only one toilet to police and it in front of the J pax. And I doubt the FA would wonder far from the small pointy end such that you can’t find her/ him to open the locked toilet. I can also understand why locking the premium toilet, particularly if some airline policy or expectation that the premium toilet are regularly cleaned.

And since I am usually seating in the cattle class, my expectation is, when sharing with 150+ other Y pax, either go early or not at all on a golden triangle flight
Not everyone is blessed with the same bladder control. When you get to your 70s, 80s and beyond, when you gotta go, you gotta go. Your turn will come! One can not always plan ahead and when the aisle is blocked some consideration to the older generation, which appears to be lacking these days, would be appreciated.
 
Because they don't charge for using the loos or for that matter breathing the air. Safety is available to everyone equally
But most J class loos have better amenities available in them and they get cleaned more often and also should be available to J class passengers when needed.

There is also the issue of a queue of people sometimes standing in the J cabin, moving the backs of seats or bumping them whilst they are waiting for a toilet to become available.

Fare paying passengers in J have paid for a higher level of service. If a passenger doesn’t want that higher level of service then travel in Economy class. It is logic really and goes with the territory so it is the passengers choice as to which level of service they pay for but don’t expect to get a J class service if you have only paid for economy.

Whatever the difference is, it has been litigated from the start of this thread.
Again my personal opinion is that all Loos on an aircraft should be available to all passengers regardless of the ticket price.
Each to their own. But it would be suggested from replies here that you are in the minority. :)
