I've had to revert to my spare iPhone (and am posting this on my laptop). I need to log in. Name and password OK then it asks for passkey from another device via scanning a QR code (can't do that) or a security key (don't have one of those).

Can I log in another way?

I find I do have AFF on my Google authenticator app. Any use?

Can't you just ignore the passkey and put in your password - it should give you an option to ignore the passkey

No e-mail and password step 1 - they work; but 2nd step verification needs passkey or security key (or so it tells me).

I had something similar on my usual device the other day but ignored it.

Do you have mutlifactor authentication enabled for AFF?

One thing I've noticed on AFF is if you've enabled passkey login and use that, it doesn't remember you for 30 days. IF you want it to you need to login using a username and password, which is a bit annoying.

Yes, and that's the issue.

Step 1 - give it my e-mail address and password - works

Then immediately pops up "How would you like to sign in to "www.aff etc"
Either Use a QR code on another device (I can't do that, other iPhone disabled ATM)
OR use a security key (physical) or via NFC (don't have those)

There is another option "Use a one-off back-up code" You will receive a backup code via e-mail" No idea how to generate the back-up code.

I see I can ALSO login using google credentials, but not going to use that.

I expect @admin is on hols :) but anyone else know how I might log-in?

If you've setup passkey on the old device, then I suspect the Google credentials might be what you want, afaik the passkey is essentially backed up in the Google cloud.

Well, I've fixed my issue on my main phone, but still wouldn't mind knowing how to log on with a single new device - the second factor authentification. I'd only want to use Google in an emergency.

Thank you all for your valuable feedback and suggestions.

If you’re locked out of your account, please contact us, and we’ll assist you. In certain cases, we may disable two-factor authentication (2FA) at our discretion to help you regain access.

Regarding passkey logins, we’re unsure why they don’t maintain sessions for 30 days as expected. We’ll investigate this further to improve the experience.

For those setting up 2FA, here’s a quick guide:
  1. Download and install Google Authenticator on your phone.
  2. Open the app and tap Enter a setup key to manually add your account.
  3. Enter the following details:
    • Account Name: e.g., "AFF"
    • Key: Copy and paste (or type) the security key provided.
  4. Save the backup code provided during setup. Store it securely in a text document or password manager.
If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
