It’s about 30 minutes before we leave for the airport, almost packed, and the day has turned out to be one of the best this week, clear blue skies and bright sunshine.
Never mind, it has been a good week regardless.
We are resolved to return again, maybe at a slightly different time of the year.
Mrs GPH has mocked me for my inability to secure a tan this week. In my defence, it has been overcast, regardless of me wearing shorts and sandals.
As we are driving back in daylight, we will at least get a better idea of the countryside and villages.

Finally made it airside. It’s all very amateur hour at check in. But after what seemed like an eternity , we manged to make it upstairs to our departure gate.

An interesting drive in taking about 25-30 minutes longer than the arrival (which was at night).

Our driver describes these guys as “Lombok Ferrari”

No lounge and not a lot of space to sit right now.
Boarding in 15 minutes or so

Back home now. Really great flight with QF. (As usual) the Batik Air experience was pretty good as well, nice food. No wine ( but then when you fly an airline in the most populous Muslim country in the world, I guess you expect that). Priority Baggage was the best I have ever experienced. And there is a strict divide where J and Y are concerned. No incursions from the back of the plane to the J toilets.

Had a sleep today, to adjust to the time zone. Big week ahead.

Have very much enjoyed this Trip Report. It gave me a very good idea of Lombok, the resort, and particularly the food!
Very interesting text and comments and some great clear photos. Thanks.

By now, you will both have almost forgotten your trip! :)
Belatedly, I have caught up with the splendid TR. It sounds idyllic.
Well done to reporter and photographer. :)

Sorry to have missed this TR as it was unfolding. You can only hope that the goodwill generated by tourism prior to the earthquake helps a speedy economic recovery.

Yes. In fact we’ve just been planning our return. We encountered such wonderful people here.

My daughter & son in law decided to try it out on our recommendation and also came back with glowing reports.

Rather than start a new TR , I thought I would resurrect this one. It has been about 18 months since we last visited.
Much cooler time of the year this time, very noticeable when you hit the pool.
We have flown in from DPS this morning after two nights at the Indigo in Bali. We arrived quite late into DPS and needed to not be getting on another flight. The Indigo is a very nice hotel and we received a substantial upgrade for our 2 nights. We didn’t venture out, as the plan was to rest and relax before the short flight to Lombok and much longer drive to Quinci Villas at Sengeggi. We had a personalised pick up which we prefer to the mini bus option.
Now we are here the relaxation has started in earnest. Took a short walk to the beach front, ordered the ubiquitous Bintang and a nice chicken dish and chilled. We recognised a few of the staff from last time, including the check in lady .
We have a different villa from last time, apparently it is an upgrade. The addition of an outdoor dining area is a plus, but the pool seems smaller than last time.

We travelled HLO again and so far so good. The advantages are obvious, and even though we are here for a week, laundry is ridiculously cheap, it makes sense not to travel with too much. Besides Mrs GPH will live in sarongs. There is of course the small item of what shopping gets done, that said this is NOT a shoppers paradise. Not only is this far from the flesh pots of Kuta, it also has way less in the form of markets and the like.
We did bring some provisions from home, just in case :)

With a one litre per pax Duty free limit we will have to eke this lot out a bit

More anon.
