London tops survey for most attractive global city

Bit of a misleading title, but according to a survey London beats out other global cities as the most attractive city overall.

Paris has fallen five notches behind London in terms of overall attractiveness, according to a survey published on Tuesday which put the British capital top the index for the first time.
The French capital, which battles with its rival across the Channel to attract capital and tourists, dropped two places in the PricewaterhouseCoopers ranking, to come in sixth out of 30 global cities.

Not sure why you say this, you only pay excessive amounts when you flight out (and long distance), the time you spend there does not come into the calculation!

Well if there <24 hrs on the same ticket (ie. connecting flight without "stopover") APD does not apply. But cheapest way around this if this is such an issue (particularly in premium cabins) is to get a cheap flight to a low taxing country like Italy, Spain or Switzerland.

Yeah I guess that's what I was thinking too, to fly out of somewhere other that LHR, doesn't seem any point to me to go to London and spend less than 24 hours there, but didn't put it very eloquently.

• Nothing to do with Sydney's arrogance. We all know that Melbourne is a bottle of Grange while Sydney is a Coolabah cask.
