Seats already been occupied in a unusual way.

Here is the picture i took from singapore to europe. As you can see those seats are always been taken in a unusual way and my booking isnt until december. And strange enough on my way back to asia same plane same model And i see those very same seats are occupied the very same way i get to europe.

Can someone please explain why those seats are ocupied in a very unusual way ? Are those just for security reasons by guards or something ? or by staff seating on those seats perhaps ? My way back to australia is within weeks after i went to europe and notice the same configurationIMAG4895.jpgIMAG4895.jpg the those seats are ocupied taken. So thats rather unusual. I wonder who be seating at those seats ?

Makes me wonder if there is multiple occupied seats the very same configuration for other airlines. I mean those seats are all the same reconfigured they all economy seats though.

I suppose someone will bring up the conclusion to why those seats are occupied and the very same looks on my way back to asia weeks later. Looks both identical. Just to give you the idea. And you can't choose those where it has a X. Even tho i booked this flights almost 11 months before travel. And the return flight 350-900 finnair the same on my way back. What your looking at is part of the 350-900 new fleets.

It's not unusual and is often the case where airlines codeshare on each others flights.

Sometimes seats are set aside so that when the other airline(s) sell seats they have some good seats for their passengers. As you can see from the seat map, there are some aisle seats, and some blocks of two and three seats set aside. This allows couples travelling together, and even groups of three to be seated together.

If you take away the blocking of seats, it might mean all the aisles get taken by Finnair passengers, leaving only middle seats or random seats for codeshare passengers.

I see thanks for that. Still alittle bit complicated. How could this airline then be codeshare when its only finnair what so ever ? This is from singapore to helsinki. Usually as an example here. Brisbane to Singapore is qantas codeshare with finnair or whatever the case may be on the time of booking website airline your on. So in this case finnair website. Brisbane to singapre it says finnair i presume codeshare correct ? but then realise it is only just finnair from singapore to helsinki that aircraft once your on the second plane next.

It sounds tricky tho. And for that person no i dont think you can choose seat 42 because as you can see it is blocked. And taken.

Let me get this right please correct me if im wrong. On finnair website has 3 diferent levels of payments. Basic/premium or business. So i choose the middle price. The basic one shows that there is so on 4 seats available on this price,

Are your trying to say that if i was to book this flight for just the basic price i will only get to choose any of those block seats only and the rest of the seats will be block by my view once i choose basic ? basic been the cheapest price lets say 3,000 dollars.. choose the second price will be premium which is 6,000 dollars or so and if business price will be higher then that. So if i was to choose basic and then choose seat the maping will only show me that the (seats that are currently block) will be available for me to pick and choose but the rest of the (empty seats) on the premium cost price will be Ocupied because if i paid the basic price.

I paid the middle price as you can see the picture it shows plenty of seats its free to choose no need to pay. The basic price means you will have to pay to choose a seat otherwise.

So if I booked 42C I will be OK?

dont think so because it be blocked unless depends ma
maybe the type of how you paid for it. basic ticket premium or higher. I paid middle price its why it shows more seats available. But i also wonder if those seats are actually bad seats. First i had the feelng they are all doctors or secret agencies one would think from the securities dress as normal people.

In addition to codeshare allocations as MEL_Traveller says, acquaintances of mine in the travel booking industry have suggested large blocked-out areas can reflect spaces allocated to package deal passengers (eg, for a 7-day tour flights included arrangement) for those pax who have no status with the designated airline.

I quite still dont understand the situation. Just sounds bit complicated really. From what im understanding is that the occupied seats are for those who buys basic tickets as in cheap prices from difernt verser websites correct? Then before this i thought those seats are taken by secret agencies or marshalls or some sort of thoery. But it is rather unusual as you can see the picture. I mean all those seats are equal as the empty seats they all the same lengh and same quality one should remain seated. Anyhow i still dont understand it unless someone explains it in a much easier way sorry.

Specially the qantas fleet the from seat 28 and forward are fully all opupied while all seats row 29 and backwards are all empty and not taken. I wonder what it is with all the seats from row 28 and onwards. Maybe bad seats ? seats specified for those who brought tickets in a diferent way format or buying ticket cheaper which means buy ticket cheaper on a diferent site for this flight means you only have (a limited seats that you can choose) unless you pay the normal price or higher price you have the full seats available for you to choose or such and such. or seats from 28 and onward are reserve only dedicate dfor those who buys cheap tickets for this qantas flight there for the people who buys ticket cheaper ONLY has the option to choose seats from 28 and onwards but not aloud to pick seats else where else. While i paid the middle price it alouds me to choose anywhere on the plane but not the seats from 28 and onwards. because those are just a small group for who ever buys cheap flights on verseres diferent website who travels on this flight. Ok im getting old to understand this but if someone can tell me if im almost correct let me know thank you very much.

We have explained it to you already. Just as Finnair codeshares on the flight from SYD (there is a Finnair flight number even though the aircraft is Qantas), the SAME THING APPLIES for the Finnair flight to Helsinki.

Other airlines will be codesharing on that flight.

YOU may be on a finnair flight number, but OTHER passengers will be on other airlines. Those blocked seats may be reserved by the other airlines, to allow those airlines to offer their passengers some good seats.

As for the blocked seats on Qantas - those are because of status. If you are silver, gold or platinum, you will be able to select from the blocked seats right now. As a bronze, you cannot, until a couple of days prior to departure.

And they will ask the same question again even after being provided a perfectly acceptable response.

Thanks guys and girls. I want to show you all the Qantas fleet as well the reason why those seats are occupied otherwise. Just to give you a much greater understanding the situation.
IMAG4925.jpgIMAG4926.jpg as you can see this is brisbane to singapore. It is qantas fleet and its an outbound. Of course im starting to understand that i didnt buy tickets directly from qantas official website but more of directly finnair by doing some bookings and so on and in there on finnair tells me AY qantas **** number and or just Qantas number *** which ever way. Are those opupied seats bad seats or good seats ? all those your looking at are economy. But then again who wants to be seated at the front middle area full of crying babys that's for sure.

it sems preview time the qantas fleet are horrible. All tight bad feel at it. Just horrible but then notice how better it was on finnair on the long flight. Where ever i may select and seat on this qantas as you see on the live maping just momens ago all those seats are no better then the one next to you. All of those economy are tight and dreadful. Not sure if one is better then the other. But i went thru seatguru and notice all those seats are the same as the one next to each others. Only the bad seats are the onces with the wall behind and back of the seat.

Also interesting how it does not privide me a showing map of the (business / first class seats on the map) but only just economy.

Which seat would you recomment with a good view off the window? away from the wings at least. One that isn't far too off the far back but then again not too close to the wings in which it blocks the viewing.

Mel. In regards to qantas frequent card. I only have a Bronze. Also i wrote a email to qantas about (upgrade to a premium bsuiness / first class seat from my exsisting economy booking) unfortunally they go on and on the usual they cant because your on a codeshare and your booking was made via finnair otherwise. I think its alittle unfair sometimes for qantas been so restricted. But its ok. i wanted to see if i was able to upgrade and they said you can't because of the booking you have. This happens all the times with bloody qantas..

My first expeirence was horrible. My one time i booked my flights with flight center. Then i realise i was unable to select what so ever NO seats on qantas brisbane to singapore. But i could frely select seats on any finnair flights by paying a little extra. I was very angry how i wasnt able to select a seat what so ever on qantas as it seems that i wasn't aloud to or not able to see the map on qantas flight for the outbound. Strange enough they all say yes i understand its alittle complicated so on and so on. I personally dont trust flight center anymore. It took me the no chance to see the seat maping and select a seat on economy what so ever.

However this time all done by myself online thanks to you guys and girls of this forum. I was able to do the very same trip but this time it seems as tho i can also select seats on economy on qantas for the outbound with no issues what so ever. (But i wonder why not i wasn't aloud to qhen i booked it with flight center on the last trip) Not even on qantas or finnair website i was able to select the qantas seats nor 24hours before depature at all.
It would had been nice to select a seat right / thats why i booked the flights in advance from flight centre which bloody cost me enough as it is.

But this time my new booking was done online and saved much more and way better and also freely to look at qantas seat map and select when i want when i want to. Without all this restrictions and what not. I still wish i knew why it wasnt aloud on the preview trip.. But now i can ? Maybe because i did the booking online and that flight center didnt gave me the chance to do what i want with my booking because they all greedy im sure. And so much full control. Soudns complicated. Someone might tell me why it wasnt aloud before but now it does when i made this online booking by myself plus i also saved much more then flight center otherwise.

So now i have qantas aloud me to change seats.. select seats from now and until then. But when i made the same booking preview time with flight center i wasnt aloud to select or see a qantas map. Not even if i called them they couldnt help it was beyond rediculous how they manage it. But now freely to do so

However the qantas fleet brisbane to singapore it requiers me to pay alittle bit of money for choosing a seat preference. The finnair long flights are resolutely free of charge even it i choose (comfort seats which normally cost around 110.00 australian dollars per comfort seat. For me free and change free as well. I guess because i paid the middle price rather then the actual basic airfare price. Plus the middle price says i can also carry 2 luggages. Which is brilliant.

However the short flights germany to finland it ask to pay around 11euros for select a seats but thats ok.

My last experience on this with flight center i was only aloud to carry 1 luggage. cant select seats on qantas what so ever. (just auto random) Maybe because flight center chooed me the basic price whoever i paid far too much for flight center which didn't felt like it was (basic) i dont trust them anymore. This is why this forum has teach me so much so far in order for me to work out a way to work it cheaper but get more things i want on my flight ternary. thanks again people.

Only what i see it unusual is the Finnair flight look at the finnair pictures at the start of this page. Yu see how it is perform in a unual way of occupied invisible seats. Its why i was wondering why in a unusual horizontal way of opupied seats. Anyhow i think im getting somewhere of understanding this otherwise. Thank you again.

So I would strongly suggest rows 51-55, and seat E or F as not too far away from wing

I dont think so.. row 51 as you can see there is a wall infront of it. It wont show on the map but thats where the toilets are and too many kids crying and seen people up and down the hallway area. Not a pleasant seats. Specially where the baby icon is showing on the qantas fleet.

What dates are your Finnair flights out of Helsinki?

This is normal!

Platinum frquent flyers have access to row 23 and 24. Gold will have access to rows 25 and 26, silver members can select rows 27 and 28.

As a bronze, you can select anything except what is reserved for platinum, gold and silver.

Thanks MEL no problem.. I mean i cant remember if ive actually added my Qantas BRONZE frequent flyer card while i was paying this booking. But i did later on but then again that doesn't make no different because i saw what i seen the same map reference with the occupied seats and so on. I dont even no why i bother using the qantas frequent flyer card which would take me 10 or 20 years time if i do travel to gain the next level as silver or even gold. I had it since 2004 and i only still have aproximate 38.500 points. Not even enough to upgrade. That only lets you use points to buy a pen with points or a luggage strap but defently not a coffee machine yet.

I wonder what might happen if i was to take the advantage of using those all points just to buy little things at qantas online store using points. Does this mean i be downgraded of my flight or something perhaps ? I have a red card i suppose its call bronze so the first card. No where near the next levels.

Like ive said very disapointed reccently with Qantas. they seem almost as if they get upset just because im flying codeshare with finnair and there for qanas is upset there for they wont aloud me to even upgrade my economy to the next premium because they say sorry your flights are with finnair. Its almost like sounding like that. Plus the qantas flight from brisbane to singapore was dreadfull just discusting. However nice touch screen with usb connection to recharge the mobile phone but the seats where like cheap as one would think of it. Not very comfortable.

Why would qantas not let me upgrade and things like that? First why did my preview trip qantas didnt aloud me to select seats just ebcause flight center dealt with me. BUT this time online it alouds me to select seats but not aloud to upgrade. oh tho ive never tried upgrade seats anyways but just curiosity. I beleive the qantas flights needs to be more better interior just little dirty just dreadful. And last trip i made i was force to be seated betweent he crying babys in the middle of the plane with no window. HOWEVER i requested well in clear i want window request. Ive never and never end up gotten a window request as i could request window but i end up randomly added in a very tight grip between 2 males beside me. Not sure if its flight center has some tricks about this when booking with them or that qantas is just playing poorly.

Look how good Finnair as treated me. freely no problem with them what so ever.

Thanks

This trip that you are doing now will earn you more points - you should then have 45000-50000 by the time you get back to australia. That is enough for a return trip to Perth for example. Or even to Bali.

Unless you fly frequently, or have a credit card that also earns points, it can take a long time to earn enough for a flight.
