Long haul upgrade question

Hi guys,

I would like to upgrade 2 relatives for their flight to europe, Bought from QF flying on EK.

I was wondering how to go about that given the tickets wouldnt show up in my account and i dont have access to their account.

And any tips on increasing success of upgrading? and points required for 2? from Y to J.

And if all else fails. any tips on best timing to achieve the upgrade with cash but minimising the amount needed.

If they fly on EK metal you can't upgrade them with Qantas points. The only way to upgrade is to cancel the ticket and rebook in business class or use Skywards points if the flights have an EK flight number.

thanks guys. i guess cash upgrade is the only way. t and q buckets prob not going to be to easily cancelled i guess...
