Long layover at Changi airport

Hi, booked with emirates (on separate flight itinerary) AMS -> SG and SG -> MELB (have 12+hours overnight layover)

I think since it's a separate itinerary, i need to clear immigrations and claim my luggage right?

Was hoping if anyone could recommend places to stay near the airport after immigrations (was thinking of booking a lounge pass with bed but the lounge is in the departure side of the airport which I think I wont have access to because I won't be able to check in) or is it better to just book a hotel in cbd area and take a cab to/from the airport?
Hello, could try Park Avenue hotel Changi, short ride from airport, close to eating venues and MRT station.

and is hideously expensive.
Can be, but as others have said the convenience is an attraction.

While it should not affect you directly, note that the EW line between Changi and Expo does not run between 2300 and 0500 if I recall correctly. During those hours it's either rideshare or taxi.

Have you considered this @csgo ?
We used it some time back.
You can book directly or through OTA, Qantas Hotels, Booking.com etc

Ambassador Hotel Transit Changi
Just a note for those of us who have used the Ambassador Transit Hotels in the past: prices are much much higher than I remember from pre-Covid (but my mind might be playing tricks). Six hours is now about A$250, and 12 hours A$375. And that's single occupancy!

Last time I checked, perhaps April for September 2 guests, the rate was $250 via Qantas Hotels @aspro2 and @Quickstatus
Agree has gone up considerably 🤔 pity...

Not quite correct. The last train that connects to the CBD (westbound trains) is at 23;18.

However if just going to Expo (or to connect east bound trains towards Pasir RIs) the last train is at 00:06.

Just here now, The Jewel wing is not soundproof by any means so if that is important to you book the old wing. They even advise on the bathroom doors to close them for a restful nights sleep. Some noise still seeps through though to the bedroom area.

Bathroom noise seeping through sounds like TMI! 😳

But is this the CP you’re referring to?

Yes am referring to the CP. The message is frosted into the bathroom door. I asked the receptionist at check out this morning and she said many people prefer the old wing because the Jewel wing is noisy.
Clearly a design error.

Just stayed at Crowne Plaza Changi overnight
Arrived at 00.15 from MEL
Departing 11.25 to FRA
15 mins from door open on aircraft to check-in desk at hotel, including customs and immigration with e-passport
15 mins from leaving room with express checkout to Silver Kris lounge, including getting a new boarding pass, immigration and passport control

Pretty seamless - apart from hotel check-in which took 15 minutes behind a bunch of air force personnel. Kiosk didn't work for me.
Room was extremely comfortable and quiet.

CP isn’t bad on family and friends rate, and not far from the staff canteens/hawker centre

Similar
We landed at 2355 T1 and airport was deserted. Was at hotel check in about 35 minutes.
Next morning from leaving room to bring in QR lounge was even faster.

We buy IHG points at their promo deal so Crowne Plaza Changi at 38,000 IHG points has a cost of $190 USD.
Mrscove did not like the Ambassador Hotel at all.
