Haha we had the same feeling too - first & only R flight MEL-SIN in Jan 2019, then straight back to Y is a really humbling experience.Being so long since in J you forget so many things - like how small the J seats are compared to F or R - like how pox the size of storage space on upper deck 380 is as o/h buns are just so small - about how when you lean on those fricking buttons each side shyte just happens that you don’t want like seat going forward - lights coming on - crew coming and asking ‘what can I do for you?’ - far from complaining as I have done >400 long haul sectors in SQ Y - all is good
Fortunately since then there's been a load of Y travel with a little bit of J sprinkled in there for good measure. If only J/F/R was possible for all flights but alas a lack of points really does put the brakes on things...
Agree - Mrs MN & myself had 96D/F on ZRH-SIN Jan 2020 (our 2nd last SQ flight before cough hit the fan around the globe); and yes 96D/F is about as good as it gets in J on the A380 (about as close to R as you can get, really). I mean it's not really a "double bed" but it'll do the jobNot 100% correct my friend - 11D/F and 91D/F have full ottomann in front - 11A/K and 9A/K still have footwell to front - avoid these - 96A/F/D/K all have full ottoman to front - best you grab these if you can.
