Hi All,

Just reviewing out travel plans to Europe booked for May , I have booked my Europe tickets using Qantas points all booked under classic reward flights . There are 3 different booking reference nos. as i booked them as the classic award tickets became available as below
Leg 1 Mel-Sin- Mel
Leg 2 Singapore-Doha- Vienna
Leg 3 Paris-Dubai-Singapore
I understand cancellation charges are 6000 points per passenger , does this mean i will be charged 6000X3 points per passenger or juts 6000 points per passenger for all 3 cancellations.
Can we pay cash instead of points for the cancellations? does anyone know how much do 6000 points translate to in terms of AUD

Thanks

6k points per passenger, per booking reference.
so, 6000 x 3 per passenger.
No option to pay $$ instead of points to cancel, I dont think.

Unless they get nice on waiving cancel fees in the current climate....

It is 6000 points per passenger each booking, which is taken out of the points amount returned to you. I am not sure what the current waivers are so the above is in a normal scenario.

Thanks a lot so looks like if we chose to cancel the trip we will lose around 36000 points in total...

Yep. All taxes and fees will be refunded to you though. In the grand scheme of things you'll be better placed than most international travellers cancelling trips in this period

It would be nice to think that QFF would not charge points or money to cancel award bookings with fights associated with the pandemic!
Hope I am not being too optimistic here.

I cancelled a reward booking yesterday as I wanted a different destination and it cost me 6k points. I didn't feel it right to blame it on the pandemic as I wanted to reroute through the same transit point (Hong-Kong)

Just had a look at my booking so I have 3 different booking reference nos. but each reference has 2 separate legs to the journey for eg. Sing-Doha as 1 leg and then Doha -Vienna the 2nd leg but both under same reference no. will this be treated as separate booking ?

Same booking, so 6k total pp to cancel both legs on the one booking ref

My parents have a booking to fly tomorrow to NZ. The booking was made using QFF points, and the flights on the itinerary are JQ flights.

Is the only option available to them to cancel the booking to phone QF and endure the 3 hour wait?

It doesn't look like the flights can be cancelled on the QF website when logged in to their frequent flyer account. The cancel button is greyed out with a "contact office" mouseover.

JQ Manage Booking has a "Your flight may be affected by an incident or issue" message. There are buttons to "Find out more" and then "Check flight options", but the latter options leads to a "We can't access your booking" error message, presumably because the ticket is 081 Qantas ticket stock.
