Hi All,

Just reviewing out travel plans to Europe booked for May , I have booked my Europe tickets using Qantas points all booked under classic reward flights . There are 3 different booking reference nos. as i booked them as the classic award tickets became available as below
Leg 1 Mel-Sin- Mel
Leg 2 Singapore-Doha- Vienna
Leg 3 Paris-Dubai-Singapore
I understand cancellation charges are 6000 points per passenger , does this mean i will be charged 6000X3 points per passenger or juts 6000 points per passenger for all 3 cancellations.
Can we pay cash instead of points for the cancellations? does anyone know how much do 6000 points translate to in terms of AUD

Thanks

I had a similar scenario seeking refund of taxes of ~$60 on a domestic award, paid with a since cancelled card. I gave up chasing it, not worth my time. Bank had no record of a refund from Qantas, Qantas said it was refunded. Who knows who is more (or less) incompetent.

It hasn't by any chance gone back onto the (now cancelled) credit card? Or being held by the bank of that credit card?
No. I've been told it has yet to be refunded.

To make matters worse I've been told the amount yet to be refunded is exactly $10 less than stated on my last e ticket. They have no record of the eticket I am refering to despite my giving them all relevant info.

I was told if I wished to pursue the extra $10, the refund would be further delayed.

The amount owed is $3,472.88.

What is the card payment fee shown on the eticket mentioned?

There is no card fee stated.

I asked if the discrepancy may have been a card fee and was told it wouldn't have been.

Long shot - but as it had taken so long then the chances are that one (or more) of the 'Real' taxes from an overseas country had been changed in the Q system to reflect the change in exchange rates.

I tracked that down to an issue years ago witha discrepancy.

I'm currently on-hold with QFF to see if they can grab some award seats currently available, and then cancel an existing Classic Reward booking and apply the miles to the new one. It's been quite some time in the queue.

If I cancel online, how long would it take to get the miles back? Is it instantaneous or would I have to wait hours/days/weeks and/or call someone?

I eventually got through (after ~2h on-hold), to an agent who was very friendly and accommodating and processed it all as a change, despite different origin and destination. It was less painful than I had feared.

Just waiting to receive the confirmation now.

This is definitely the best way to do it as the taxes you've already paid will offset taxes for the new journey, so you won't be out of pocket for months.

With regards to how long the refunds take - it's a complete coughshoot. I cancelled two classic award PNRs on the same phone call in early August, got the points back for one booking in a few days but the other has yet to arrive almost a month later.

The rep who cancelled the PNRs quoted 5-6 weeks for points and 8-10 weeks for taxes.

I cancelled 3 award bookings yesterday by phone…the points for all flights were in my account this morning.

I cancelled 2 award flights on line and the points are back in my account within 2 days. May have been quicker, I didn't check until I saw this thread.

I recently cancelled one award booking online and another over the phone, both on the same day.

For the booking I cancelled online, I received the points back after a few days. For the booking I cancelled over the phone, it took around a month to get the points back.

The taxes for both bookings were refunded on the same day. Interestingly, I also received a refund of the credit card fee for the booking cancelled over the phone, but not for the online cancellation.

OK. Now that the agent has processed the change last night, the itinerary disappeared from my account and then reappeared with the same PNR and the new flights. But I don't think it's been ticketed yet, since I didn't get an email and the additional points haven't been collected.

Anyone got any insight into how long an award change is likely to take to ticket? I just want to be confident it's locked-in.

I cancelled two bookings online, one immediately after the other. I only received the credit card fee refund on one. I had to follow up with a phone call about the other. It came through about a week after the call.

Especially if it isn't on a Qantas plane then it needs to be ticketed asap. Sorry, call them.
