Hi All,

Just reviewing out travel plans to Europe booked for May , I have booked my Europe tickets using Qantas points all booked under classic reward flights . There are 3 different booking reference nos. as i booked them as the classic award tickets became available as below
Leg 1 Mel-Sin- Mel
Leg 2 Singapore-Doha- Vienna
Leg 3 Paris-Dubai-Singapore
I understand cancellation charges are 6000 points per passenger , does this mean i will be charged 6000X3 points per passenger or juts 6000 points per passenger for all 3 cancellations.
Can we pay cash instead of points for the cancellations? does anyone know how much do 6000 points translate to in terms of AUD

Thanks

Another data point. I cancelled our one-way business class flights end of March (around 28th) and points have been refunded back to my account yesterday. So, 4 weeks all up to return points. Not too bad.

If I have a return booking (single PNR), can I cancel one of the flights or is it always a full cancellation?
You cancel? Then a classic reward chamge fee ... may be some variance in $+++ which could be a small refund.

QF cancelled two domestic flights and subsequently I cancelled a third on three separate PNRs, two were Classic Rewards bookings. After about 4 weeks the first points have been refunded in full but no sign of any credit card refunds yet.

QF are not deducting the usual 6000 points for classic reward cancellations for flights at this stage up until July 31
That is if Qantas cancel the flights and is not relevant to @WLGFlyer query.

They are asking about modifying an existing booking with no reference to cancellations. I replied along those lines.

I'm in a similar situation. Points refunded after about two weeks but yet to see the credit card refund, so there is obviously (and understandably) a disconnect between the two operations.

And mine was cancelled 7th April. Also no sign of any refund of taxes or refund of points. It was a truckload of points, so I'm sweating.
Looks like I've got another 1-2 weeks to wait, if this forum is anything to go by.
I want the points returned asap, as want to rebook reward flights (if any are released) for next June to replace this years cancelled trip and those arent far away form being released now.

I want to too, Lynda, but I'm too scared to book anything to ANYWHERE until there is a vaccine. This could all blow up in our faces big time yet.

Yes but it is low risk I figure as classic rewards are fully refundable except 6k points penalty. So if i see flighst that work, I may as well book them, and if our borders remain closed Qantas will need to refund them again at no penalty or worst case i cop the change penalty if it gets close and doesnt lok safe to travel.

I wont book any revnue international fares until the situation is better understood.

Update: so emailing [email protected] did help a bit - tazes back on my AMex on Saturday and the Points back in my account today, plus an email to tell me they were there.

Is that email address able to be used by anyone. I am a lowly bronze FF, who had his trip cancelled a month ago (MEL-TKO) I got the points back within a few days, but the fees have not been transferred. I know they said 8-10 weeks, but I though if I email, at least it might be looked at, I haven't called, cause I don't have a spare 12 hours to be on hold.

I just saw the email posted here so gave it a try. I phoned on 16th April (offshore call centre), emailed on 21st April (following up), and received taxes back on 2nd May and Points on 5th May, so just over two weeks. Cant hurt to query, just be sure to have your booking reference.

I took the option to cancel through the website on 18th March after significant flight changes to my mid-May OneWorld Classic award. I messaged QF through facebook on 17th April chasing the points and tax refunds. I was informed that "Our refunds team are currently dealing with some backlog, we can see your refund is pending and our team will have this processed as soon as they can."

On 24th April I received an email (as deejo77 posted above) informing me that *they* had to cancel my reservation and the refund would be processed in the next 4 weeks.

The points were returned to my account on 1st May. Still waiting for the $$$.

When I went to cancel my OWA booking for July online, there's a "Cancel/Voucher" red button. Then on the next page you have to click on “voucher” to get the red “next” button. But I don’t want a voucher for the taxes & charges, I want a refund to my credit card. Do I ignore that & click on “voucher” to get to the “next" button & I’ll get my points back & the taxes & changes refunded to my credit card.
I have this same issue. What did you end up doing? I also want a refund not a voucher but there's only a voucher button...

Received a full refund of all points (original + upgrade) and taxes/charges with no penalties today. Qantas were true to their word
