Just wondering how long you have been an Amex card holder in Australia.

The world has changed..
Amex member since xx actually meant something once upon a time.
When it no longer meant anything I cut up the card….

When I got my Amex Explorer a few years ago (having started with a green card before graduating to a Platinum Edge) it had "Since 15" or similar I rang them and they reissued the card with the correct "Since 79".

Much like @Dr Ralph my cards have probably said:
Member since 2013
Member since 2015
Member since 2017

Haven’t got one at the moment.

Banks (and Amex) don’t reward loyalty, they reward new customers!
My problem with the thought of churning my Amex is that I earn enough MR points that missing the 3x points for WW Gift Card purchases for 18 months is probably less desirable than taking the 18 months time-out to get the next sign-up bonus. It would be just my luck that they stop the sign-up bonuses during my 18 months of non-earning the bonus points. So for now I feel safer with knowing I will get the 3x points for a significant portion of my general spending rather than hoping there will be a nice bonus for returning in 18 months time.

I do churn (not as religiously as some AFF members) my non-Amex cards. Currently using Qantas Premier Platinum Mastercard. That is working well right now as it has a 10K/month 1:1 points earning which I am using for some home renovations we are doing (along with plenty going through Amex too). Next will likely be a return to NAB as soon as my new QFF year starts, and I can return to ANZ in March 2023.

SO I tend to retain Amex and churn MC/Visa - generally one new card per year, but may do two in the next 12 months. But what works for me may not be best for other people who have different circumstances and goals.

Member since 00.

Signed up the old fashioned way via a beautiful spruiker during lunchtime at Marrickville shopping centre.

My Amex cards show me as a member since '78, which IIRC was when they started operating in Australia. I vaguely recall getting a letter in the mail telling me what a terrific person I was and wouldn't I just love having one of their cards: which, being a sucker for such things, I apparently did and have had ever since.
Have been a member since 1977 with various cards

2016 for me, when the explorer was just released.
one of my employees got me into the points game and he told me to get the explorer back then and do the whole linking think with edge to get 2ppd
