Contemplating walking between security/lounges/gate to another gate? Article notes US airports with long distances, some over 1.5 miles.

The Longest Walks at the Airport - WSJ

Internationally too, there must be many where passengers need to tread long distances on foot.

The link is behind a paywall ...

But internationally, KLIA2 is almost unbelievable! It can be a very, very long walk. Some say 45 minutes! It didn't seem to end when I did it. It's certainly 20 minutes or more:

When passing through SIN with a short layover I footed gate F59 to gate A9 in 28 minutes walking the long way around through T1.

According to Changi maps it was suggested to have taken 49 minutes. Can't quite figure out the miles though.

Did work up a sweat and had a shower in the Silver Kris lounge. The only thing is the shower wouldn't go cold enough for me I was still radiating warmth when boarding the next sector!

Self enforced long walks sometimes. Like tonight from Qantas lounge at Changi in T1 to F56 in T2 for MH departure when I could choose MH's contract lounge in T2. About 13 mins and 1.5km

VA MEL lounge to gate 10 always seems like quite the hike! ;)

Madrid and Schiphol both require a bit of a trek, Hong Kong is a pleasant walk from one end to the other, as is Singapore. It's nice to have the space and be able to take a nice long walk.

The longest walk at any airport is always from the gate we are leaving from or arriving at.

I thought the Zurich walk to the Swiss Air departure gate was a doozy from the train stop we used. Afterwards we heard there was a train to use.....

Singapore broke me a bit when I was watching a movie in the little theater until about 3am, heading for my 3:30am flight. Thought I had plenty of time but didn't realize that the inter-terminal trains stopped running from 2am.
Was a 30+ minute walk.. speed half jogged it, got there 10 minutues after boarding was supposed to have started and everyone was still parked in their chairs.. unnecessary lack of breath and sweat.

I think T2 in LHR can be quite the hike when flying SQ, UA, AC or TK.
By the same token, T5 departures can also involve a reasonably long walk particularly when they give your flights a gate in the B concourse at the very last second.

Of course then there are airports where the walks aren't long as such, but just longer than necessary. MEL international terminal springs to mind. Good of them to think of our health in designing their airport layout. :p

I recall a long layover at Don Mueang (BKK) when I was in high school where I walked from one end to the other... and back again! Felt like a long walk back then.

Out of the airport LHR T3 (or T2) to the Heathrow Express can be a bit of a trek. If you include from the Gate, through customs to the train, its quite a stretch!

And the shortest one? I remember getting of a LOT 737 with a few colleagues in Katowice PL and boarding the bus. We were joking if we had to go over the nearest building and sure enough, the bus travelled 5 metres. Funnier still was that had dedicated buses for J and Y pax.

Flew out of TXL the other day. Love the taxi to checkin counter to security to boarding gate all in the space of 30 metres.
