I am a Qantas Gold Frequent Flyer (through the partner program) and I am looking for the cheapest way to earn tier points to keep my membership. Any ideas?

Welcome aboard Thedarce, as you know you'll need to earn 600 status credits in your membership year to retain your gold level.

How many SCs do you have so far and when does your membership year expire.

Also, do you want to fly on points or pay for the tickets?

Finally, what is your local airport?

Thanks for the response - I have 590 status credits at the moment and my date for retaining is 31st of August so I only need 10 at this stage.

My home Airport is Sydney

Basically any <600 mile flight in Discount Economy will earn 10 SCs
So pick a day in August, ideally towards the end (further away is normally cheaper), and probably look at Qantas flight SYD-MEL, BNE, OOL or CBR
alternatively a Jetstar Economy flight with the Plus bundle will also get you the requisite 10 SCs

Also, just wanted to confirm you are Qantas Gold
given you mention partner program (to be Qantas Gold you have to be a Qantas Frequent Flyer, albeit a oneworld Sapphire member is effectively equivalent) and tier points (which is a British Airways concept)

Well a quick trip to Melbourne or Canberra is the go then, it will get you 10 each leg.

Make a day of it and enjoy the lounges. :) Or come into town and see the sights.

I am a Qantas Gold my partner card was obtained via a friend that is platinum and could nominate a partner to receive a free gold card - this has been my first year and have enjoyed using the lounges so wanted to try and keep my status credits up to retain the card

Jetstar have a Friday frenzy sale on that's current for the weekend offering SYD to OOL for $49, for $117 return with one plus pack you get your SCs and its available on the weekends at the end of Aug.

So long as they actually give them to you. We always seem to have to argue with J* to get our status credits

Welcome to AFF:D

If that is what is shown on your screen (needing 10 SC's) to requalify, I would get a screen print of that now and keep it safe.

There have been issues in the past with PG being advised they needed 700 SC's to qualify rather than 600 SC's to requalify.

Hi welcome to AFF there is an amazing amount of information on this site. I have spent many an hour reading and yet this is my first post. I wish I was able to add to the wealth of information one day. Teresa
