Looking for VPN recommendation

We have had express for some years . Very few issues, their online chat help does help
Just started to use their tunnel splitting as well (when in Aust )

I've used VyprVPN on and off for several years, and haven't gone wrong. Variety of protocols (including one which they claim disguises the fact you're using a VPN, which seems to do as they claim), servers all over the world and a decent price (can pay monthly even, but it's more expensive).
They periodically do specials too, I'm currently on a 2y plan which cost US$60 (that was a Black Friday deal though).

Worth considering what you want to use it for though - if you use data roaming via your phone when overseas, all your data will route via your home network anyway, which does a similar thing (to a point).

I used to use a free VPN for some years, but moved to NordVPN a couple of years ago. I recently extended my plan with them for a further 3 years. I have not had any issues using Netflix, Stan, etc when I travel (although most of my travel has been to the Middle East and Europe, not China).

Speed wise, I was in Germany last week and on a 100Mb/s connection at home: without NordVPN I was getting about 90Mb/s for both upload and download, and about 70Mb/s download and about 60 upload (connected to a server in Germany), and about 50Mb/s for download and 45 upload when connected to a server in Australia.

I use Nord and only have two issues:
1) I have to turn it off to update Apps on my Samsung phone.
2) When it updates or you restart the phone/computer/tablet you have to reenter the password. I have a 20+ character password with symbols/letters/numbers, upper and lower case etc, and it's a real pain to remember.

1) I have an iPhone and I do not need to turn off NordVPN for updates (your issue could be a Samsung or Android Play thing?)
2) I only have to re-enter my password when I force-close NordVPN, but even that is not consistent: reboot, etc are fine, but if I force-close NordVPN, it 'sometimes' prompts me to login again.

P.S: As been suggested by others, use a password manager. I have been using 1Password for years across all my devices and all browsers I use. So, when NorDVPN does prompt me to login, it is simply a matter of clicking on 1Password and either a finger-scan or face-scan to populate the fields.

I noticed something interesting with Nord.
If I want to watch Netflix US, it works even if I'm connected to a server in Oz.

I used express vpn for a year. They worked perfectly fined wherever we went (Singapore, Europe, US, NZ, Mexico).
I have heard no complaints on Nord from friends who work in IT, it's really more about the price. I didn't renew with express vpn for that single reason, but no complaints.
