I have lots of regrets, mostly when I find something that seems a great deal, is a great deal ,and I didn't buy enough…..

Case in point : Tahbilk 1927 Marsanne ; recommended by Wozza?.. anyway , eventually I found some 08 somewhere at a really great price and bought 6…...

So , of course, I have only two left after the one I am savouring and I want more.. but not at fifty bucks...

ssooo.. the point of my post is if anyone sees my target as a good deal please post or pm.

Maybe others have … er.. um ...needs ...

www.wine-searcher.com is your friend. Pro subscription recommended.

Then keep an eye on who sells what you're looking for, and when Amex etc. deals come up that will knock $5/$10/$20 per bottle off the price.

With my impending *21st*, my first birthday dinner has been organised by my wife. Its BYO at a nice Italian, overlooking the harbour. We are bringing the wine. Almost everybody is not that into wine, and my wife has insisted I get 6 Pinot Grigio for the Whites.

I'm way out of my comfort zone looking for a nice PG to bring! I need it delivered by the end of next week.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be included to suggest a Central Otago PG. We enjoyed the Peregrine, which you should be able to find in Australia, or the "2015 Sur Lie" from Chard Farm, which was a real standout, but probably more difficult to find here.

But a PG for Italian? Not my cup of tea... Good luck to you!

I am on the lookout for a red, but 3 specific vintages of the same wine... 1999, 2001 and 2004

I have found the Torbreck Runrig in all 3 but at $320 per bottle I struggle when I feel it is really in the $200 - $250 range... I guess a premium to be able to secure all 3 vintages in 1 purchase.

This is a bit like how long is a piece of string, but I am open to suggestions of what superb wines I could consider ( excluding Grange ) in the 3 years listed..

I would say RunRig is seriously good. But I agree - not at $320 a bottle, even for your chosen vintages. It's one of the few wines I've served up, where it actually stopped people in their tracks to work out what they had just sipped.

Having worked the auctions a bit recently, I suggest: Australis. Penfolds 707. O'Shea. Graveyard.

A step down from these: Elderton Command. Penfolds 389. Penfolds RWT. Penfolds St Henri. John Riddoch. Vat 1. Basket Press. Mount Edelstone. Wendouree Shiraz. First Growth.

2001 wasn't arguably the second or third weakest vintage in the Barossa for the naughties. Not sure how those vintages stack up in the Hunter region for reds (or whites for that matter).

Not bad vintages for Margaret River reds though. Could also consider looking overseas. Probably open up many more options for you.

I think your best bet would be something from WA for all three years. Based on Langtons vintage chart, WA wines fared the best during those years you've mentioned.

I will say I am a massive fan of Cullen so that is where I was sort of heading.. 707 was proving a little hard to locate all 3 vintages as well

Problem is in this country, there are so many wonderful wines to choose from
