Looks Like Flyertalk has some competition.

I'm very easy to find, same as here and my infrequent visits to FT.
For the iPhone addicts the site is beautiful on iPhone ( unlike FT).
Karens I bet you're a certain female rhymes with Colleen ;)

Making my mark there by signing up.

I think you'll have no trouble finding me.

Ok I have signed up. Shouldn't be too hard to work out the username! ;)

For now I will still actively participate in AFF as I do not have the time for more than one forum. Wait and see how MilePoint goes in time but if anything like Flyertalk then I would rather be on AFF anyway as we cover most topics that are relevant to Australians....

Actually I got it wrong karens has sent me a PM on milepoint,
Now who amongst us is Noelene ????

Hmm. Sounding out those names and trying to make them rhyme ("Colleen" and "Noelene"), it keeps coming out with a Scottish accent. Is that how you're pronouncing them?

I'm on a very q**** night shift - hence the frivolous posts!

ps for those who don't know, the q**** word is one that is forbidden in hospitals overnight...

Looks like MilePoint is really going to take off with now over 1900 members signed up.

I guess as the internet changes then the way we communicate with people will change, I remember first reading about flights and travel through the usernet newsgroups in the 90s, then through to websites on desk tops, to laptops but now a lot of communication is via the smart phone, AFF with tapatalk is a great Iphone App, the app that FT users is cough.

Has anyone noticed on the MP that you can now see which of your friends is online(bottom right hand corner of screen) "evening serfty"

It is disappointing that Flyertalk as we know it will go into the depths of history.

I just clocked over 10 years and 1,000 posts on FT so it feels like I have put in a bit of time reading FT, I can't ever see getting to 20 years and 2,000 posts. :(

I remember reading that Randy had sold out to Internet Brands in 2007 and I thought that big changes were coming to Flyertalk, but it stayed pretty consistent with membership growing and everyone having a good time, but I guess the biggest shock was when Randy announced he was leaving Flyertalk then this was a biggest changing point.

Couldn't agree more :)

And the plot thickens: Randy is using Xenforo (www.xenforo.com) software to power the new site. Xenforo is new forum software founded by ex-vBulletin staff who were unhappy with the direction vBulletin was taking after being purchased by Internet Brands, the same company which purchased Flyer Talk from Randy!

Thanks for the interesting information.

Same. Same.

Same but different; so you like a different username for each forum. ;)

I wonder what Lindsay (QF WP) will use as his username on the new board.:?:

My first FT meeting of Australians was here and now its become and annual event. 9th Annual AGM: BNE QP Sat 19 Feb 2011 I wonder if we will ever get past 10 years. :-|

Well, my FT Handle doesn't really make much sense any more - and I am not going to use a location based one any more :)

So we have FT DO's, AFF Gatherings and probably in time we'll have a MilePoint Meetup happening!!
