Lots of TG J award availability to/from Sydney

anyone found anything recently? I have been looking for flights into/out of Mel for next year and there isn't a thing in Bus. I also couldn't see flights into/out of Sydney. Have these also dried up too?

Anyone having any luck?

A lot of the TG J seats on SYD-BKK seemed to disappear around 19 December. There were never any J seats on MEL-BKK in recent times. Hopefully they will be back...

There is no way to earn AC points via credit card spend/transfer in OZ.

I believe you can use Bonvoy as an intermediary to convert Amex MR to Aeroplan.

Under the recent 30% MR to Bonvoy promo (which finished a couple of days ago) 69.3k MR = 60k Bonvoy = 25k Aeroplan.

That makes a 2.25 MR per $ earn rate the equivalent of 0.81 Aeroplan points per dollar, or without the promo it's equivalent 0.625 points per dollar.

Does anyone know the reason why TG award inventory is coming up on UA but not LM or KF?

Do you have an example date/route?
SYD-LHR Dec22/Jan23

Quite wide open dates - UA showing up to 2-4pax per flight combination in J.

Nothing showing on KF/LM - only UA.

Yeah… UA seems to be getting early access to some TG inventory. Not sure if it’s actually bookable though. Three months seems to be the window for LM and aeroplan.
I might try it and see what happens with UA, its cancellable after all. UA never got advanced access, if anything it was LM that had about a 30 day advantage vs UA previously I thought? Whats changed, its certainly not a LM change to push their cash+points venture.

My last set of flights booked via KF were star alliance ANA flights, so I have definitely seen star alliance inventory up there in the past - its just that *nothing* shows on their StarAlliance tab these days...

I even called up the KF redemptions team and they couldnt see anything like what I was seeing via UA.

It's frustrating for folks who want to go direct to BKK that TG are still flying the loop via HKT. I've passed on this route and done direct with QF

At least in April when I was coming home from Europe Thai has non-stop flights from Bangkok to both Sydney and Melbourne and also an additional flight via coughet to Sydney. The non stops leave it at 8:30 in the morning from Bangkok and the flight from coughet leaves at 3:30 in the afternoon.

interesting to see that TG award seats are coming up on LM in class Y, but not J.

A similar search on KF yields the same result with no StarAlliance options in J or Y. This perhaps says to me that SQ is trying to get people to burn miles on SQ metal rather than on a fellow star alliance carrier perhaps? Doing everything they can to bump up seat yields and forward bookings?

Update: TG inventory bookable via UA. Unsure what is going on, but it ticketed.

We are now t+302 days from the date in question that I have been looking at...and still KF/LM dont seem to have access to those J award seats at all. Generally if anything, LM used to have earlier access to award inventory than UA. But for some reason that no longer seems to be the case.

LM at least has access to the award inventory in Y but not J.
KF has access to neither it seems.

Did a test for some seats in mid November 2022 (t+240) for the same routing. No star alliance availability but availability on actual SQ metal though - not great if you don't have enough KF miles and need to get 3 pax on a flight using a combination of programs! Looks like we are going to be stuck getting different flights!

I don't think the KF site shows TG availability online as a matter of course, you have to call or fill in an online form. From my limited experience they have the same availability as UA.

I can also confirm that there's been plenty of inventory on TG through UA. Managed to score 2xJ return tickets to Europe for Dec 22/Jan 23. Some flights had up to 4xJ seats available!

How did you manage to do this? I understand that the seats could be seen on UA did you book them through UA or through Lifemiles? I assume you mean on UA?

I have definitely seen TG availability on the Singapore Airlines website before, as recently as last December. Not sure why it's not showing now.

It was showing for me last month. Just checked and still showing. UA has been fine since Jan when I first booked the flight.

I have also tried with Copa (online booking) and had to call them every time to get a refund because TG wouldn't confirm the space in J. Was told by the agent to call to book. Did that a few times and they wouldn't confirm the space as well. Thankfully Copa was no Qantas and there was basically no hold time. Gave up on these south American programs.

UA isnt the problem, it is KF that is not showing any star alliance inventory.

Its showing up fine and bookable via UA no problems.

I think I can see the issue now. Kris is showing availibility for Thai up to around mid June only. I don't plan the trip far in advance these days so I didn't search past that. Copa didn't work as well for flight in a couple of months. Looks like UA only for now? Will need to fly in July and already burnt UA miles for next month. Might have to use Kris when it gets closer.

Oh really?

I went onto KF to check. I put in some dummy dates for MEL/LHR in J on the KF search and nothing came up in June, July or August 2022 let alone Dec/January 2022/3.

I went as early as next month (April 2022) and still nada on KF.
