Lounge Access between Long Haul Economy & Short Haul International Business?

Have tried searching for the answer to this both here and on google but was unsuccessful as only came across discussions regarding either lounge access at the start of the journey beginning with a domestic economy leg before an international long haul on business or vice versa for lounge access in-between before transiting.

For an economy Y long haul connecting to a short haul business class (eg BNE-HKG-TPE) would you still get lounge access upon arrival in HKG before the short haul flight to TPE or does that Oneworld rule of the long haul class overriding any other short haul classes apply in this scenario and therefore no lounge access? I understand there's no access at the start of the trip in Aus but not really fussed about that. Or have I completely ovethought this and it's simply a case of onward flight in business class provides lounge access regardless of previous legs or long/short haul etc?

Any answer regarding short haul and long haul is moot. Assuming your Business class travel departing HKG is on a oneworld airline marketed and operated flight then class of service would provide business lounge access at HKG.

Lounge access is basically an "or" situation in relation to the various methods to gain lounge access; just one needs to be true. Failing with one method does not negate another.

For access to a oneworld Business lounge at HKG one of the following needs to be true:
  1. First Class or Business passengers departing on a oneworld Marketed and operated flight ✔️
  2. oneworld Emerald or Sapphire departing on a oneworld Marketed and operated flight. ❓
  3. Passengers in First Class on a flight longer than five hours connecting§ to/from an international or domestic short haul (five hours or less) oneworld Marketed and Operated flight. ❌
Failing 2 and/or 3 does not negate 1.

Thank you that's kinda what I assumed but just wanted to get a confirmation. So this was indeed simply a case of me overthinking things haha. And the very firm wording on Oneworld's website regarding long haul being the determining factor only really affects access at origin.
