Lounge access flying Scoot as Vel Gold

The members dept then said that as a Velocity Gold member flying Scoot that I would be able to access the Krisflyer lounges at both Sydney and Changi.

I'd be charitable and say they meant SilverKris in Sydney and Krisflyer Gold in Singapore which is what it is when flying SQ, still wrong info, just a different shade of wrong :D

Scoot's 'partnership' with VA looks to be more about inbound pax who then connect to somewhere else on VA e.g. fly SIN - SYD on Scoot then connect to Hobart etc. on VA

Solitaire PPS (SQ's top tier) don't get access to any SQ lounges flying Scoot, so there is absolutely no way that VA tier members will get lounge access. Scoot is more LCC than Jetstar is. There are two ways to get lounge access flying scoot, firstly through a membership or credit card scheme that gives access to Priority Pass (or similar) or by purchasing "Scoot in Style" package for $39 SGD (for flights departing SIN only).

As I am currently sitting in a SQ SilverKris lounge, I have used the opportunity to ask at the front desk and they were pretty clear that no one gets free lounge access when travelling on TR.

Straight from the source (via me of course)...

Update on this situation: due to aircraft maintenance for Scoot, they will now put us on SIA flights. So, my question is, now that I'm "officially" flying SIA both ways...as a Velocity Gold member...does this mean I can access the lounge? And will I have priority boarding for SIA?

Thanks for taking the time, I'd figured that would be the case...but now that the situation has somewhat altered...I'm wondering again if this creates a loophole of sorts.

Lucky you. Yes definitely you can get all the normal benefits you'd get on SQ, assuming it is a SQ flight number its business as usual.

If it isn't a SQ flight number, but SQ metal (plane), you may or may not get benefits. But I am betting you got a SQ flight number.

You'd win that bet. Both flights have SQ numbers, which is great. I'd originally paid for priority check in and boarding on Scoot so its nice to know I will at least get that via Vel Gold in this new situation.

I spoke to Scoot about this, and they recommended I call SIA for the answer, despite the fact that their notification email expressly asked us NOT to call SIA. Good old call centres.

And yeah, it's a strange turn of events, after I initially agonised over whether to spend the extra money to by SIA or just fly Scoot...here we are flying SIA anyway.
