Re: Lounge Access for Virgin Platinum flying Hawaiian Airlines

How much did the upgrade cost?
$700. Much cheaper than buying a business class fare. You are taking a risk that there will be no seats available but was lucky on this occasion.

Re: Lounge Access for Virgin Platinum flying Hawaiian Airlines

I paid about $550 to upgrade (bne ) earlier this year and yes the business lounge the Qantas staff said was switching from the airnz to Qantas

Re: Lounge Access for Virgin Platinum flying Hawaiian Airlines

Did you arrive at BNE with a lot of time to spare before the flight? I think when I arrived for the HA flight the NZ lounge was already closed for the night.

Yeah, others (who were not flying HA, presumably) were still being allowed into the lounge.

Slightly off topic, but didn't feel it warranted a new thread. I'm flying to Hawaii out of Syd in June on Hawaiian and my friends have decided to join us. I know as a platinum velocity member I'm entitled entry for myself and 1 guest to the Air NZ lounge, but am I able to buy two paid entries for my friends, or is it just flat out 1 guest?

NZ has paid entry options to their lounges so you should be fine with that.

Re: Lounge Access for Virgin Platinum flying Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian previously used the AirNZ lounge, but that shuts at around 1800ish. No lounge access now for Hawaiian pax afaik. This raises the question - what lounge access will Etihad provide from BNE for their 2135 departure? (starting 2 June) Currently they use AirNZ also for their 1225 flight

I know it's a bit of a gap between your post james and now, however when I travelled to Abu Dhabi on Etihad (2135 departure), I used the AirNZ lounge without issue. Might the 1800 closure have been a one-off?

I thought they changed the closing hours not long after my post to accommodate Etihad pax on that 2135 flight. You have confirmed that to be the case. Thanks for the update.

Re: Lounge Access for Virgin Platinum flying Hawaiian Airlines

I thought Air NZ stopped doing that recently?

Agree Mattg... i couldn't buy an extra into the NZ lounge back in August , that was when we were travelling on VA1. I think they may still do paid entry if travelling to NZ . If they don't paid on a VA flight , then i highly doubt they will on HA.

Oh well. I'll be in there regardless.
