Lounge access for RTW trip

Gday everyone,
My partner and I have booked a YONE4 (out of AKL thanks to AFF forums!!)

part of our 2 yr visa to the UK: spend 6 mths travelling then 6 months in UK, back here for xmas, return flights back to UK for the final year.

AKL-SCL, Buenos-Sao Paulo, Lima-MEX, MEX-DFW-PHX, SEA-ORD-JFK-LHR-CAI-LHR-SIN-BNE-AKL skipping the final BNE to AKL leg.


Now we're discussing whether we should line up lounge access for the trip, add that comfort after not having much backpacking around. I've got 3 complimentary QC cards (silver and 2x HSBC credit card).

It has been suggested by relatives that we look at Qantas Club memebership. However as far as i can tell on the QC website there are not many lounges on at our destinations that allow acces to QC members, only Gold.

My status year ends in sept, and seriously doubt i have anywhere near enough money/points to get gold before we go.

Now that i've given my life story, has anyone got suggestions, deals to look out for, other memberships, hints or tips that could help us out?

At a quick look, Qantas Club membership/passes would give you access to:

• AKL, Qantas Club
• MEX, Admirals Club
• DFW, Admirals Club
• ORD, Admirals Club
• JFK, Admirals Club
• SIN, QF/BA lounge
• (BNE, Qantas Club)

oh wow danger, thanks... i thought i was looking in the right places! That could be the way to go then... i get a good discount from work QC membership, better sign up before i quit haha!
Its cheaper for my membership to add a partner membership!

The other way could possibly be to use your complimentary passes for the QPs and buy a $99 AA 30 day Admirals Club pass to get into the ACs as you travel through the US/Mex (if they are all going to be within 30 days or maybe buy 2 if its going to be over a longer period) The 30 day AC pass will also get you into QPs when flying Qantas but doesn't work with BA i don't think... Not sure if the 30 day pass offers 1 guest access as well as its been several months since i looked at it but think it might??

But anyway another option you may want to look up depending on just how cheap you can get QC access through your work...

The beauty of the 30 day pass is that it offers Any Time Access so several times i was flying out of or arriving into airports with ACs on different non OW airlines and could still access the ACs, not sure if QC offers that access or if you will be flying any other airlines than OW ones... Pity was that many several ACs, unlike the QPs in Australia, didn't have showers and of course only some meager free snacks, but the drinks were free plus the wifi and all....

Would QC membership also get access to T3 in LHR if that is the terminal that will be being used for transits rather than T5 (still not sure if that ever got resolved satisfactorily!!!)

You could also consider getting a Diners Club account.Joining fee +supplementary card will be $185(cheaper if you can get an association linked card).Each person needs a card so need the supplementary card.Meant to be over 600 lounges around the world.We have used it in Quito where there is no OW lounge.Almost certainly cheaper than QC membership.
Also Priority club but that would be a bit dearer.
