Lounge access - Gold midflight

You could always buy a 30 days AA Admiral's Club membership for USD99.00 that will get you access at both QF and AA Lounges so you'd get access at the QP in MEL Domestic then J Lounge at SYD International plus the AC at DFW at whatever termiinal your onward AA flight departs from.

It sounds like you are travelling solo however if you are travelling with a companion you can guest them in so there's no need for both of you to pay the USD99.00.

Get Qantas & American Airlines lounge access for cheap here

A better option would be to kindly ask a solo travelled to guest you in. I will almost always do so.

Still better than most gate lounges as well as complimentary drinks.

You mean complimentary "drink" don't you? As a high flying WP I get TWO drinks vouchers. Woohoo - not. The only decent lounge I use in the USA is the one at Miami - the One World premium lounge. But it only opens at 2pm or 4pm or something like that :/

As a scum gold I've been given two most times. And never any issues asking for more.

To give everyone an update:

Upon arrival in DFW (on QF7) I checked the QF app, nothing updated. I then logged out of the app and back in and I ticked over to Gold, also on the QF website.
Walked to the QF lounge, which was closed, we were sent to the AA lounge and they didn't accept my status, said it has to show up in the AA system and don't "care" or look at the QF status.
Fortunately, after checking, my OneWorld status was also updated and they let us in.

Thats ts why they call them "Lounge Dragons"

Yeah, I don't know if you can check your own OneWorld status. They checked it in their own system.

Getting into the launch, ordinary as it may be, was nice as that meant not sitting at the Gate for 5 hours, having a proper seat to sit down on, a shower and some silence.

Was it great? No.
Was it good? Yes.

@Quickstatus: Lounge Dragons?

David, its just a name given to the guys and gals, or men and women, or staff at the front entrance to the lounge.
Or the gates to the castle.

I am just no good at asking :)
Never a problem getting more either.

In any case, they do have a complimentary "house" drinks selection including beers, spirits and wine as well as soda's. If you don't want to ask, there's generally a list of them available on the bar.;)

The chits are good for premium (non 'house') drinks.

And they have a few spirits that are far better than what QF stock :D
