Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hiya,

Travelling from SYD to Haneda in February in Qantas business, and then travelling to Sapporo with JAL in J class but booked separately. The Qantas flight lands at 0525 and the JAL flight isn't until 0955. I have checked the OneWorld Lounge Access Policy and it seems like I can use the JAL lounge between flights but not sure if the 0600 rule excludes me or not. Does anyone know?

Am aware it's not great lounge - but I just want a shower! Not sure if I should just pay for a shower at the arrival lobby instead of risking it... TIA!

Under oneworld connecting rules it’s the same day. You arrive 0525, departing at 0955 same day.

The 0600 only applies for travel which begins on day 1, say 8pm, and arrives at 11pm, but the connecting flight is the next day at 0100. The departure of the next flight is not same day, but is before 0600 in the following day.

How is lounge access for EK flights using EK membership then flashing QFF status at Melbourne? Or will they need QFF status attached to the booking?

Shortly after the QF/EK partnership commenced, the online lounge access rules were tightened so that eligibility was determined by the frequent Flyer status "in the booking". With this, flashing a card would not work if the FF membership attached to the booking did not allow access to the lounge.

Some time before COVID, these clauses disappeared from the web site. Still, there are a few staff out there who may still enforce those clauses.

I am Qantas Platinum.
If I am flying economy on Cathay Pacific (CX code) out of Melbourne on the midnight departure am I correct that I won't have lounge access other than the Qantas lounge which closes at 10pm?

Don’t Cathay use the House lounge at MEL?

Hi all I have a OWA Business class flight booked through Qantas. MEL-HKG on Cathay then HKG-HEL Finnair with about 5 or so hours from about 3pm to 8.30pm at HKG.

There seem to be many lounges we can access and I am hoping someone can recommend the best one to suit us.

We have wheelchair assistance booked to and from from the gate for my partner who has mobility issues so it doesn't have to be near the departing gate.

We have no status or Amex. Hoping to set up and relax in a quiet corner and possibly take a shower get a massage and recline for a few hours with some nice snacks. The CX lounges seem to have these pods and the Qantas loounge gets good reviews. Any advice welcome :)

Not sure where you can get a massage, but for everything else CX The Pier Business lounge near gate 65 without question. QF would be worth a brief visit if not for the mobility issues.
That overlooks the fact Finnair often departs Gate 5, which happens to be the gate closest to the Qantas lounge, CX143 normally arrives in that area as well.

The wing, deck and pier are all decent and even QF.

Pier is definitely the best of the bunch but not so far ahead that I wouldn't consider the others if you want to move somewhere closer to the gate after a while.

I have Star Alliance Gold (courtesy of the HSBC credit card) and would like to use the Star Alliance lounge in Sydney (either Singapore Airlines or Air NZ or both!) tomorrow. I would like to bring in a guest (mother), however, she is not on the same flight as me (which is what I understand the rules require). I'm flying Singapore Airlines and she is flying Air NZ. Do they usually check the boarding pass of the guest? Any tips. Thanks heaps!

They usually do scan all boarding passes. I’d suggest you have more chance of success accessing the NZ lounge, if you explain you’d like to come in there as a Star Alliance lounge rather than next door and so that your Mum can enter with you (as a Xmas present to her…). Maybe the NZ lounge staff will be in keeping with the spirit also.

Thanks for the tips, will give that a go tomorrow :)

Reporting back. Got into air nz lounge without explanation, both boarding passes were scanned. Singapore Airlines refused entry. Thanks for the tips again :)

transferred two QF lounge passes to a friend so he and his partner could access LAX on their LAS - LAX - MEL flight home. However, when he couldn’t link it to his flight he contacted QF who replied with:

So, since he’s on bronze is there no way around this? Could it be that the lounge yet becomes available on the day if a little quieter on the day? Although I suspect the LAX is busy as SYD what with all the gold and platinum QFFers these days.

Maybe they can ask at the desk on the day about using them?

They have never accepted Comp lounge passes at the LAX lounge. The only passes you can use there are P1 or Titanium for the F lounge.
Your friends will not get into the OW lounge at LAX with their passes and there is no point in asking.

Do you think I can guest twice into a SQ lounge in Aus using both platinum with Velocity and Gold with UA?

The rules with each of those are that I can bring in 1 guest. But do you think I can bring in 2 guests, one on each?

I’ll definitely try but just wondering if anyone has past experience

Bit of a strange one, I know

It’s one guest for the card you are using for entry. The airline is billed for the membership card you use to enter.

If you use Velocity, one guest. Or you use United, and one guest.
