Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

My daughters told me she would be happy in Macca's. They both don't care much about the lounge. Anyway, my option would be to nicely ask the lounge dragon.
Will the staff know their age unless you tell them…? “I’m guesting my partner and two children…”. Sure, wouldn’t suggest you lie if they ask for their ages.

they won't have access to pax personal information such as BOB. However, i expect that they will scan the boarding pass and the system will indicate entry eligibility. they can either override the system or just waive us through (I hope).

With a long haul F into a long haul J, would there be F lounge access at transit?

JL F > QF J @ SIN.

No. Oneworld rules only provide for long haul to short haul or v.v.

Long haul to long haul doesn’t qualify, unless you have relevant FF status.

Individual OW airlines may have more generous access if you are connecting between their own flights. For example CX->CX.

But not in your case.

Fancy that. I was only watching a YouTube trip report on this last night. The JL F hard product sure is impressive. I was rather disappointed with the champagne on the reported flight though. He scanned the menu so quickly (even on rewind) I made out one of 2 champagnes on offer was only the Charles Heidseck vintage. It's a beautiful champagne but when others are serving Dom Perignon, Krug and miscellaneous Gran Cru, it just seem cheap. There was no caviar either. I bet it was still a memorable flight for your brother.
QR J is no downgrade from the QF F in SIN either. Ala carte menu, champagne. Lucky brother.

Flying QR regional F DXB-DOH then J DOH-GYD, can I get access to the Al Safwa lounge? I’m struggling to find anything authoritative on access if arriving in F.

Hi guys, hope you're doing well.

My partner and I are flying below all Y:
  • ADL-MEL - QF
  • MEL-NAN - FJ
  • NAN-MEL - FJ
  • MEL-ADL - QF
I don't have QF status (at all..) but I do have QC, partner would just be a guest.

Understand access to lounge for the first and fourth leg should be fine.
But would I be able to access MEL and NAN lounges for second/third leg?
I've read around that quite a few people have had success with FJ joining OW in full in Q1, but wasn't sure if there was a set-in-stone ruling that says I can access the lounge or if i should try it anyway/risk the walk of shame.

Thanks all! :)

You'll only be able to access the MEL J lounge if you booked the QF codeshare flight operated by FJ. Those FJ/OW changes only affect members with FF status, not QC.

And furthermore, I believe you won't have access at NAN regardless of flight number - but the lounge there takes Priority Pass if you have that.

No. If you don’t have any stat alliance status you won’t get lounge access.
Didn't try to enter the Star Alliance Lounge LAX with my United first class domestic boarding pass, however when flying back home I went to the lounge to ask and the staff did verbally confirm to me that I would have been able to access the lounge when flying United domestic first class as per the Star Alliance lounge access policy:

Thought it's worth mentioning as half of my United domestic first cabins were Aussies which I assume were also earning VA/*A mileage accrual.

Unlikely you would have got in based on the rules on the policy you linked. These specifically call out and exclude United Club access for UA F domestic pax… or is the *A lounge different? Seems improbable that UA won’t fund pax accessing their own lounges, but would pay *A for the same pax to access the *A lounge.

I think the confusion lines in the different interpretations of this. I think most people are reading it as:
"United Domestic First Class passengers do not have access to any UA lounges or any *A lounges."

However I (and the *A lounge staff) read it as:
"United Domestic First Class passengers do not have access to any UA lounges but can still access any other *A lounge."

I'm not sure how the funding works, I presume UA are happy to pay for their passengers abroad to use lounges but domestically I've seen United Clubs at full capacity and closed to all passengers as early as 7:00am due to overcrowding so I can understand why they won't let domestic first class be eligible for entry.

Found this article on pointhacks, which goes into more detail and confirms no access. In terms of access by class of travel with UA, it's only for those traveling internationally in business or first: Review: Star Alliance Lounge (Business Class), Los Angeles

There is a paid entry option, however, which if you are traveling on business might be something you could claim back as an expense or deal with via tax deduction.

Yes, that’s how *A lounge access works in LAX and pretty much every North American port. A standalone UA F BP won’t get you into a lounge.

A F or J inbound longhaul *A BP connecting to a same day *A domestic flight (irrespective of cabin) ought to be fine. Same as doing the domestic sector first before connecting to a same day *A longhaul flight in F/J.

A non-North Am *A Gold will work (as does VA).
