Hi,

two questions....

can I access Cathay lounges @ Hong Kong if I'm Qantas gold traveling on QF

can I access Cathay lounges @ hong kong if I'm flying business on QF

i have looked at both websites, but i don't think it gives a definitive answer.

thanks in advance

TQ

If your next flight is OneWorld marketed and operated, as a Gold member or J pax you can access any OW J lounge thats not an associated lounge, or short answer - Yes :)

Yup: Lounge access - oneworld

oneworld lounge access for frequent flyers by tier status

Enjoy exclusive access to premium airport lounges around the world with oneworld Emerald or Sapphire frequent flyer tier status. Members of oneworld airline frequent flyer programmes with the equivalent of oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status can use any lounge offered by any oneworld airline when departing on any flight marketed and operated by any oneworld member airline, regardless of cabin class being flown.

  • Emerald tier frequent flyers can use First Class, Business Class or frequent flyer lounges.
  • Sapphire tier frequent flyers are welcome in Business Class* or frequent flyer lounges. (*does not include Qantas Domestic Business Lounges)
  • Emerald and Sapphire members may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld carrier.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass and frequent flyer membership card, with oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status, to access a lounge.

oneworld lounge access for First Class or Business Class customers

Indulge yourself before departure in a wider range of airport lounges when you fly First Class or Business Class with any oneworld member airline.

  • Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. First Class passengers may use a Business Class or frequent flyer lounge if a First Class lounge is not available.
  • First Class passengers may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline.

i believe if qf gold on qf flight in any class you could also access EK lounge

Hi Serfty,

thanks for taking the time to answer my questions so well.

Im thinking of trying "The Wing".....

TQ

what lounge do you recommend? .....hope you are well
They are all fine including the Qantas lounge.

If I was rushed for time I would use the lounge closest to my gate.

If I had plenty of time then I would try and visit as many as possible.

Last time I was there I found the Qantas lounge a bit dark and boring....
Try the Cabin around gate 32. Plenty of light, nice views out to HKG, a long bar where you sit and order drinks, has those individual pods to sit and relax.

One of the things I do not like about the Cabin is the Macbooks are horrid. Trying to post on AFF and the editor is extremely confusing.

Sorry to be pedantic as I think it's been well answered... but, just to confirm, I'm flying out of HKG shortly on QF in J. I'm only a PS, so no status access to anything.

So based on the above, I can access the CX business lounges, as well as the QF lounge? Thanks!

A One World benefit is the right of J passengers on a OW marketed and operated flight to use any OW lounge that is not an associated lounge.

Thanks markis10. I'd hate to be turned away because there was some catch I missed in the small print!

Iam afraid if you are flying Qantas on bus. Or first, Cathay always ask you to use Qantas lounge... Cathay lounges are much better than cheap Qantas lounges.
Cathay lounge on lowest floor is better but other one is nice too..

Well try and see what happen since I have tried many times...Cathay will say as long as Qantas lounge open you need to go there if the ticket is QF..
This started few yrs ago and early days you can go to Cathay lounge if you are Qantas flier.
Hope some one from one world or Qantas, Cathay answer to this issue.
To me Qantas lounge will get negative vote compared to Cathay lounge that will get 8 on business and 10 on first class.
