For my past four trips over the past three weeks I have flown Qantas for this exact same reason; I want to grab a coffee when I land and before heading to my meetings, and I want to grab something to eat when I land back and before heading home.

Yes ''COVID restrictions'' on so many folks in the area of space was the first excuse. Some sympathy there for sure. That is all history now.

We arrive in SYD at 5pm and often like to chill for an hour for a coffee and beer and sent a few emails etc, to let traffic die down a bit etc.

Have not tried to see if at the coal face, to see if it is possible in not so busy times.

The web site covid lounge access had had the "COVID" no arrivals access removed.

The Lounge access page refers to departure access.

The Terms indicate WP can access for 60 minutes after arrival.

Anyone know when it changed back? -- so Plats CAN now access on arrival if Lounge not overly busy?

Can't seem to find anything about it still, the website still says " Lounge access on arrival at your destination is temporarily unavailable."

That'll teach me to click a link at the top of the page, without reading down further.

There has been no change ... :(

Don't have too much hope for it anytime soon tbh, their barely even bring back the self-service buffet.

I am guessing the lounge Matrons have some discretion in non-peak times.

I never use the scanned boarding pass machine near desks, but assume if a same day Virgin flight from someone with entry access level it will register as entry approved? If desk matrons are otherwise busy, I guess they pay little attention?

When I've used the self scan machine on arrival it's usually directed me to show my boarding pass to the desk attendant

VA Platinum/landed into Sydney Flying J from Perth. Lounge access was given begrudgingly "do you need to make a business call? lounge access is normally only for outgoing passengers"

Platinum in Brisbane and able to access the VA lounge upon arrival in Brisbane yesterday afternoon.

Mind you I visited both the VA Canberra lounge and the Qantas business lounge in Canberra yesterday and the VA lounge minus the lack of showers and spirits was much better.

I was also at the VA lounge in CBR yesterday... Did the QF lounge have a view of the aerobatic displays?

I was actually north of Canberra during the displays. Was in the VA lounge around 4pm so everything had wrapped up by that point. Headed to the QF lounge about an hour later (I was flying QF but guested into the VA lounge).

The QF Club doesn't seem to be opening at all on the weekends and the business lounge doesn't really have a view so I suspect those in the QF lounge wouldn't have seen it.
