In April off to Hong Kong again CNS/HGK/CNS, I'm in J class, a business friend is travelling in Y, can we both use the Q or CP lounges seeing I'm in J class?, if not how can we?, I'm not in Q Capt. Club member either.

I'm assuming you are flying Cathay, although the answer is the same regardless of whether flying Qantas or Cathay.

You get access to the Business class lounges in Cairns and Hong Kong, but your workmate doesn't get entry.

oneworld - Lounge Access
Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. (First Class passengers may be accompanied by one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline).

Cathay may be more flexible than the rules state - but be prepared for your workmate sitting outside the lounge.

Assuming we are talking about Cathay, then being a member of Qantas Club wouldn't assist with getting access for your guest (as you are flying Cathay)- you would have to be oneworld Emerald (Qantas Platinum) or oneworld Sapphire (Qantas Gold) to be allowed.

As a J pax, with no QP membership, no you cannot invite a guest into the lounge. Thats what the rules say anyway, but I would still try it when you get to there.

Yes flying direct both ways with Cathay.

and thanks for clearing this up for me.

Seeing as the CNS lounge is now a CX lounge, there's a slightly better chance of getting access than when it was a QP, but it seems unlikely. Good luck!

Not exactly the worst lounge to be refused entry too, it was pretty underwhelming three years ago, I dont expect it to have improved, free drinks and a average chair to use would be my summary, outside you get a view at least.

When I was there in August they had not yet received their liqueur licence so it was soft drinks only. I assume they have that sorted by now. But still its a pretty basic lounge.
