Lufthansa Gift Card ?

Hi
Does anyone know how to purchase a Lufthansa gift card for about USD $150 for a friend of mine in Germany ?
Not as easy as it sounds , as the airline does not seem to have gift vouchers ! Crazy !

Vouchers appear to be available on the German Lufthansa Holidays website: Reisegutscheine | Lufthansa Holidays

However the vouchers are only for Lufthansa Holidays bookings (including a hotel). Validity is 2 years. Conditions are available here: Gutscheinbedingungen - LHH Reisegutschein

Unfortunately I cannot seem to find an English version of these pages, but here is a summary of the booking steps:

1. Value of the voucher (select amount from 25 to 500 Euros)
2. Recipient.
3. Details of the purchaser. (I notice that it asks for a European address...)
4. Payment details.
5. Confirm purchase.

I had a look and you can only use these vouchers for things that can be booked on the Lufthansa Holidays website, i.e. flight/hotel packages.

I have no idea why Lufthansa don't sell regular vouchers.

Perhaps it would be better to just buy your friend the flight/s they want?

Thanks for the update - I can't afford the full ticket but want to us it as part of the price of the ticket
I want them to fly to Melbourne , in your experience , which is a better airline to use ?
Or put it another way , whats the best way to get to Melbourne from Germany ?

Where is the starting point, and which class of travel?

My personal preference would be Emirates/Qantas, but Singapore Airlines (with either LH or SQ for the Germany-Singapore leg) would also be an excellent option. Cathay Pacific is possibly also worth considering, as is Qatar Airways and an Airberlin/Etihad combination.

Won't work unfortunately, as the Qantas vouchers can only be redeemed for flights departing from Australia.

An airberlin voucher could work, but the maximum amount is only 200 Euros.

Perhaps it would be better if you offered just to transfer your friend the money? Things can get a bit complicated when using a voucher.

If I went Airberlin , what flights would you recommend , and would that be the best way for them to get there ?
Seems a bit impersonal just transferring cash but maybe that would be the way to go
Or a paypal card perhaps

Paypal would perhaps be an option. There is a small fee for sending money to Germany via Paypal, but it's only a few percent.

Airberlin flies twice daily from Berlin to Abu Dhabi, and connections are available to Melbourne twice daily from Abu Dhabi. AB flight numbers are available on the Etihad operated legs. For the AUH-MEL legs, try to get on the A380.
