just a quick correction: This recent case was not about flight credit: Under the passenger rights regulation 261/2004/EG, you are entitled to a rerouting which gives you a new booking
In the case of the suing consumer organisation, Lufthansa asked for an additional payment of about 3,000 € per passenger.

- on the same route
- in the same class of travel
- on the initial carrier
- at a point of time at the passenger’s convenience if a seat is available.
