Hey guys,

I'm travelling Business tomorrow with Qantas.

I was wondering how baggage allowance work on mixed fare? The main legs of my journey are business - SYD to EUROPE Europe to Sydney. but all the other internal flights as i travel around europe are economy.

How does it all work? I am now starting to get worried that I am going to get lumped with paying for baggage on all the internal flights.

All the flights were completed under the same booking reference PNR.

any advice or experience would be appreciated.

You are best to look up the baggage policy for each airline you are travelling in economy to check their baggage policy. Each airline have different rules so it is not possible for anyone to say anything definitely without knowing the airlines involved.

I believe that you would get Economy allowances for the internal flights, basically it's re-assessed every time you check bags. Luggage fees can be quite hurty, so you should definitely check your weight and maybe take a set of travel scales with you. It surprises me how easy it is to go from 22 or 24-25KG and paying for that at the airport is often expensive.

You can try lookup the booking on Qantas.com, some flights will show up when you load the booking and may tell you the luggage conditions -- any that don't you'll need to check the relevant airline website. Including your status but watch out as for example Qantas Silver gets you extra luggage on QF* flights but no luggage allowance on oneworld carriers.. you need Qantas gold for that.

This 23kg business drives me bananas, I have a real hard time keeping under it.

If you don't already have a copy of your eticket, ask QF to print you one as the baggage allowance for the intra-European flights will appear on this if they are on the same ticket.
