I am working out an economy round the world trip on the Qantas website as an award booking.

I thought that any RTW trips that went via North or South America had luggage limit of 2 checked bags on all sectors of the RTW trip. I noticed today that it is 2 bags when heading to North/South America from Australia first, and then it drops to 1 bag only for the Atlantic crossing (examples were with British Airways and Iberia). Has the checked luggage limits change on the OneWorld RTW tickets?

From the OW explorer T&Cs-
Baggage regulations
Two free pieces of 23 kilos each shall be permitted. Additional allowances may apply. Refer to
individual carrier websites.

Check here and go to rule sheet-

I think the OP is talking about a QF RTW award rather than a OW product.

Yes, the trip will be a points redemption through Qantas. I always thought that on the ticket the same luggage allowance continued though all sectors. It's a bit of a hassle if it goes up and down. Perhaps I will try AA for the Atlantic crossing to see if that makes any difference. Otherwise I will purchase extra luggage for those "lean" sectors.
