Any recommendations - especially for a last minute booking?
We stayed at the Westin about 18 months ago.didn't play golf but checked out the course-very convenient to the westin. It is an old style resort and easy to critiscise but we loved it.Great staff.Away from the bright lights and loud noises. On the beach, good restaurants a short walk away.Shuttle bus to the casinos and ferry.Once at the casino area or at the ferry we just used other casino busses for free transport.
Of course I was SPG plat.We did get a suite upgrade and free breakfast.I think this last is also available for golds.

You should be able to get Westin for A$99/night and upgraded to a suite if you have SPG status.
Can't see prices that low for the date I want (not too surprising as it's a Saturday night). Don't credit to SPG so would be a waste really. At the moment I've booked the Holiday Inn on Cotai, but booking is flexible and I'm continuing to look around.
Not sure "Hard Rock" would be my kind of place...
Anyways, thanks for the suggestions. (Hopefully won't be spending too much time in my hotel!)
FWIW.
I stayed at the Galaxy Macau, booked via lastminute or wotif IIRC. ~$100 AUD a night for a really decent room it seemed. At check-in, requested a larger/longer bed (as I am 6'2") and was upgraded to a suite (this worked in Hong Kong too!).
The interior of the multiple foyers and the stage shows on the weekends are fantastic. As are the resort pools, one with the largest rooftop wave pool in the world... albeit only on the roof of the casino floor. The casinos only accept Hong Kong Dollars also, which was a little weird, considering the ATMs on premises give you Macau dollars which you are then forced to change. So take a fair wad of HKD with you when you go.
Location doesn't really matter as you won't do much walking. These resorts really are all-encompassing, self-contained complexes, so that you don't have any reason to leave other than to see some of the old Portuguese architecture. All of the name brand resorts and casinos have shuttle buses that meet the ferries at the wharf.
